Open-air highlight When the music plays”: Mourning and solidarity in Bad Kleinkirchheim!

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the highly anticipated event “When the Music Plays” – Summer Open Air will take place in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria. At 8:15 p.m. this event will be broadcast on both MDR and ORF. The moderation will be taken over by the popular pop singer Stefanie Hertel and her co-host Marco Ventre, who will accompany the viewers through an evening full of music and a good atmosphere. The guest list is promising and includes artists such as Hansi Hinterseer, Sarah Zucker, Andy Borg, Die Nockis, Marc Pircher, Anna-Carina Woitschack, Die Amigos and Simone as well as many other well-known faces in the hit industry.

The event is described as the highlight of the summer and promises a mixture of emotion and a happy celebratory atmosphere. Despite a tragic incident in Graz in which eleven people, including nine students, lost their lives, the organizers have decided not to cancel the show. They want to set an example for cohesion, comfort and humanity in order to support people during this difficult time and to create a positive atmosphere, reports Schlager.de.

Safety and health incidents

The safety of participating artists and guests is top priority. There was already an incident during dress rehearsals that drew attention to the health risks during such large events. During a dress rehearsal on January 17th, an emergency doctor had to arrive when pop singer Pia Vanelly suddenly suffered from breathing problems. She was supporting her colleagues from the VIP lounge when she felt like her lungs were collapsing. After first aid from paramedics, she was flown by helicopter to the Villach LKH. Pia Vanelly felt acute discomfort, but is now feeling better, although she will remain in the hospital for a few more days.

Stefanie Hertel has been moderating the event since 2013 and has earned a permanent place in the hit landscape. She will also moderate the Winter Open Air on January 25th. There is great anticipation for the summer event and fans are eagerly waiting to celebrate together and listen to the artists.
