Quang Ninh, known for the stunning Ha Long Bay, attracts millions of tourists annually but has not yet exploited its full tourism potential. Despite nearly 20 million visitors in recent years, including an increasing number of international guests, the region faces crucial challenges. The reasons for this are complex: there are bottlenecks in seasonal development and a noticeable lack of high-quality products and international resorts. The prominent expert Dr. Tran Nhuan Vinh highlights that visitor numbers drop sharply in the off-season, which hurts the region's economy.

Halong Bay, a popular destination, has limited offerings beyond viewing the spectacular scenery. Many tourists only stay in Quang Ninh for one night. To change these patterns, regional authorities have formulated ambitious plans: to welcome 20 million visitors in 2025, including 4.5 million international guests. Additionally, it aims to increase overnight guests to 8 million and increase tourism revenue to VND55,000 billion, an increase of 18% compared to 2024.

Development of year-round tourism offers

A central goal is to develop year-round tourism that improves the quality of existing tourism products. This includes the introduction of luxury cruises in Halong and Bai Tu Long Bay. In addition, three beaches in Halong Bay will be put into operation and seven untouched island areas will be opened up to tourists. These initiatives are part of a broad strategy to promote adventure tourism.

Private yacht services and helicopter transfers are also planned to offer visitors a unique experience. To make longer stays more attractive, high-quality resorts located close to nature are a key point in this strategy. Authorities have recognized that investments in high-quality infrastructure and sustainable tourism products are essential to meet the needs of modern travelers.

A particularly ambitious project is the development of the Van Don district into a new holiday center, which will be equipped with major projects. The comprehensive planning and development strategies are intended to ensure that Quang Ninh becomes one of the leading global tourism hubs by 2045. These long-term visions require not only financial investments, but also innovative approaches to tourism design.

The future of Quang Ninh is therefore characterized by a dynamic transformation aimed at positioning the region as an attractive travel destination and promoting sustainable development.
