Vodafone today unveiled an innovative solution for travelers to address the frustrating challenges of roaming. The new digital platform for “Travel eSIM” enables users to surf mobile in over 200 travel destinations and 700 mobile networks worldwide without having to worry about high roaming costs or changing SIM cards. Activation is simply done using a QR code, making the process much easier for travelers and ensuring constant access to mobile data while abroad.
The “Travel eSIM” can be booked online before you travel. In addition, your own mobile phone number remains the same, regardless of the previous provider. Neither SIM card changes nor expensive hotel WLANs are required to use it.
Flexibility and costs
The “Travel eSIM” is intended exclusively for mobile data use; phone calls and SMS are not possible. Customers can continue to use their existing mobile phone tariff and roaming conditions. This solution is particularly suitable for messenger services, video streaming and emails on vacation. Prices for the eSIM start at 4 euros for European packages and go up to 10 euros for Africa packages. Discounts are available when purchasing multiple European plans – 15% for two, 20% for three and 25% for four eSIMs.
