Schliersee, Fischbachau and Bayrischzell: New tourism partnership starts!

The market town of Schliersee relies on closer cooperation with the neighboring municipalities of Fischbachau and Bayrischzell in the tourism sector. Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer emphasized the importance of this cooperation during an announcement at the municipal council meetings. It is intended to help use existing resources more efficiently without creating new structures or brands. Historically, the tourism cooperation between the three communities goes back to the beginnings of the “Holiday Triangle” project, which has already created some synergies in the past.

The idea for closer cooperation has matured over the last year and is based on a good relationship between the mayors of the communities. In the future, tourism marketing will be coordinated by the municipal company Regional Development Oberland (REO), which analyzed in 2024 the areas in which the tourism offices overlap. Particular attention was paid to the challenges in online marketing, social media and digital guest cards, where increased effort will be necessary in the future.

Planned measures and working group

In order to make the cooperation more concrete, a working group made up of representatives from the three tourism offices will be set up. This group is tasked with developing collaboration proposals to be presented to local councils by mid or late 2026. A central point of contact will be established to coordinate both internal and external concerns, further increasing the efficiency of collaboration.

The tourism challenges in the region are diverse and the statistics for the Tegernsee-Schliersee Alpine region show both the potential and the needs in the area of tourism. According to the analysis, the focus on modern marketing strategies is becoming increasingly important in order to meet the demands of guests. For more in-depth information about tourism statistics, those interested can take a look at the document published by REO: Tourism statistics Alpine region Tegernsee-Schliersee 2023.
