Tyrol presents itself in Berlin: tourism and quantum as top topics!

The event “Tirol greets Berlin” took place last Friday, May 15, 2025, in the Heeresbäckerei in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. Organized by the Habitat Group of the State of Tyrol, the event is aimed at a target group of over 200 entrepreneurs as well as 60 tour operators, travel bloggers, journalists, influencers and wholesalers. With Germany as the dominant market for Tyrolean tourism, accounting for more than 50% of overnight stays, it is a strategically important step to bring this attitude to life to Berlin.

Mario Gerber, Tyrol's Economic and Tourism Councilor, emphasized the opportunities that Tyrol offers for companies, skilled workers and investors. Presence in Berlin is crucial for future vacation decisions and network connections. For the Tyrolean economy, Germany is not only an important tourism market, but also the most important export market, especially in agriculture, with 200 tons of cheese delivered to Germany every year through cooperation with German organic retail chains.

Focus on innovation and business location

Interactive “Break Out Sessions” took place during the event, which highlighted the diversity of Tyrol as a business and scientific location. Business locations such as Online Birds, a specialist in hotel online marketing, and ivato GmbH, which operates in the areas of management consulting and digitalization, were mentioned. The Tyrol Location Agency recorded over 45 company settlements and expansions in 2024, with investments of over 90 million euros being targeted in the next three years.

A particularly interesting highlight was the meeting of more than 150 entrepreneurs on May 15th in the “Tirol Hub” in Berlin, which focused on the areas of IT and quantum technology. Tyrol is increasingly positioning itself as an area of innovation in these technologies and is therefore attracting companies and start-ups.

Culinary and tourist diversity

An equally important part of the campaign is the culinary presentation of Tyrol in Berlin. The Habitat Tirol Group has launched a 360° campaign under the motto “Always there for you” to promote Tyrol as a holiday destination. Numerous tasting events are planned in Berlin Dennree branches, where Tyrolean cheeses will be presented. From the end of April to the end of May, 40 campaigns are planned in 20 branches.

In addition, initiatives were launched through collaborations with Berlin climbing halls and the sports community app “Urban Sports Club” to promote summer tourism, targeting climbers, mountain bikers, hikers and trail runners.

Accessibility and quality of experience

In order to further improve accessibility to Tyrol, faster rail connections from Berlin to Innsbruck as well as planned direct connections have become the focus. During the event, Kitzbühel and Achensee Tourism strengthened the importance of their region and the quality of the Tyrolean experience.

Elisabeth Riederer, Deputy Austrian Ambassador in Berlin, and Martin Reiter, Managing Director of the Habitat Group, both underlined the important role of the Berlin campaign and the constant effort to position Tyrol as an outstanding location for tourism, business and cuisine.
