Over 50 tour guides in Can Tho: Freshly trained for tourism!
A comprehensive knowledge refresher course for tour guides was held in Can Tho City from May 21 to 23, 2025. Over 50 participants, both international and domestic tour guides, took part in the training. The aim of the course was to increase the quality of human resources in the tourism sector and prepare tour guides for the latest developments in the industry. The tour guides' IDs were issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City and had to be renewed as part of this training.
Participation in the course was free of charge as the costs were covered by the city's Office for Culture, Sport and Tourism. After successful completion, participants received a certificate that is required for their application for a tourist guide card. The training content included, among other things, new regulations for tour guides, digital transformation in tourism, communication skills and dealing with challenging situations in everyday work.
Tourism figures and development
The first five months of 2025 were successful in terms of tourism for Can Tho. To date, the city has recorded almost 3.165 million visitors, reaching 47% of the annual plan. Estimates totaled nearly 1.5 million guests, resulting in over VND3,131 billion in revenue from the tourism sector. These encouraging figures underline the importance and growth of tourism in the region.
The course aimed not only to update the professional knowledge of the tour guides, but also to promote awareness of legal situations, professional ethics and sustainable tourism trends. Participants were eagerly waiting to see how the new information could improve their work and service to tourists in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta.
The updates and knowledge transfer for tour guides is a crucial step in the further development of the tourism sector in Vietnam, especially considering the changing environment and the growing demands of travelers. Such initiatives will ensure that Can Tho remains an attractive destination for tourists in the future.
