The route and its attractions
The route of the Weser cycle path is divided into eight stages, with the average daily route for cyclists being around 70 kilometers. The route is considered easy, with only 524 meters of altitude, which appeals to numerous cyclists. A high target group are people over 45 years, many of whom use pedelecs or e-bikes. At 17 train stations along the route, a sustainable journey by train is also made possible.
The Weser cycle path impresses with an idyllic river valley, gentle hills, historical cities and numerous sights. The striking stages include:
- Hann. Münden to Höxter(71 km): Benedictine monastery Bursfelde and Castle Corvey Castle.
- Höxter to Hameln(68 km): Wasserschloss Bevern and the city of Bodenwerder, known for the Baron of Münchhausen.
- Hameln to Minden(70 km): Sights such as Bückeburg Castle and the Kaiser Wilhelm monument.
- Minden to Nienburg(58 km): Wasserburg and the asparagus city of Nienburg.
- Nienburg to Verden(62 km): Johannis-Der-Täuferkirche and the water adventure park Drakenburg.
- Verden to Bremen(57 km): St. Sigismund Church and various Bremen attractions.
- Bremen to Nordenham(78 km): Historical Weser promenade that ends in Nordenham.
- Bremerhaven to Butjadingen(Optional): 37 km through a picturesque coastal landscape that ends on the North Sea dike.
