About the step fountain of Panna Meena Kund in Jaipur
The Jaipur Stepwell in Amer is a square fountain (Baori or Baoli) with eight levels made of diamond -shaped, crossing steps that lead to a deep, green water basin.
The Jaipur-step fountain was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 16th century to offer a sophisticated method for storing rainwater from the seasonal monsoon. This enabled Amer citizens to access fresh water during the dry season and served as a central meeting point for the people in the community.
The design of Panna Meena Ka is customer, to put the least, impressive.
This practical step fountain design has a number of symmetrical stages over rounded niches that enable access to the fountain water regardless of the water level. Although it is rarely used today, the beauty of the design attracts many visitors who would like to take a recording with the step fountain setting.

I am sure that when you arrive you will meet the lonely guard that patrols Panna Meena Ka's step fountain. Some other blogs that were written a few years ago claimed that it was free to go down the steps to take photos and explore the area. Unfortunately, the wake of the service now prohibits everyone down without "permission".
to be honest when I arrived at Jaipur Stepwell for the first time, I was a little overwhelmed. However, do not understand me wrong, it was certainly not disappointing and I would definitely come back.
Rather, my high expectations were due to a confusion between the Jaipur Stepwell and the Chand Baori in the neighboring abaneri. Both step fountains have the same arrangements of pyramid -shaped steps and have a very similar archaeological design. However, Chand Baori is a much larger step fountain with a total of 3,500 steps!Alt = “Jaipur Stepwell architecture”>
