Winter season 2024/25: Salzburg recorded minimal declines in overnight stays
Salzburg recorded a slight decline in overnight stays during the 2024/25 winter season. Loud crown From November 2024 to April 2025 there were a total of almost 15.6 million overnight stays in 119 municipalities, which corresponds to a decrease of 0.1% compared to the previous year. The geographical distribution of overnight stays shows that Pinzgau was the most popular region, with 6.7 million overnight stays (43%). Pongau follows with 5.6 million overnight stays (35.7%), while the city of Salzburg has 1.3 million overnight stays (8%). Strong major sporting events such as the World Ski Championships as well as the Epiphany and the Alpine Ski World Cups have a positive influence on tourism and increase interest in the region.
Deputy State Governor Stefan Schnöll emphasizes the importance of tourism as a central driver for the economy and the creation of jobs. In addition, the high quality of the family-run businesses and the first-class service from the top performers in the region are emphasized.
April 2025: Seasonal developments
April 2025 was particularly eventful as this month recorded 1.3 million overnight stays. All districts showed significant increases in the number of overnight stays, largely due to the Easter holidays, as shown by data from Salzburg.gv.at emerges.
