Motorhome trend: Wiesbaden in first place among motorhome strongholds!
Holidays in a motorhome will continue to be popular in Germany in 2025. An analysis by www.onlinecasinosdeutschland.com of the RV population in 91 German cities with at least 100,000 inhabitants shows that the density of RVs is the highest in Wiesbaden with 42.9 RVs per 1,000 cars. From 2024 to 2025, the number of mobile homes in Wiesbaden increased by 51.6 percent from 6,336 to 9,608 vehicles, which is primarily due to car rental companies and digital vehicle registration.
Freiburg im Breisgau, which was at the top last year, fell to second place with 40 mobile homes per 1,000 cars. Other cities with a high rate of mobile homes include Flensburg (38.7) and Kiel (38.1). The numbers are also remarkable in Konstanz, Lübeck, Oldenburg and Hamburg. On the other hand, Offenbach and Frankfurt am Main show the lowest densities with 8.2 and 8.6 mobile homes per 1,000 cars, respectively.
Trends and developments
The current data reflects a positive trend: camping overnight stays in Germany reached a record of 42.9 million in 2024. This corresponds to an increase of 1.4 percent compared to 2023 and an impressive increase of 19.9 percent compared to 2019. In cities such as Essen, Mönchengladbach, Halle (Saale), Kaiserslautern and Bottrop, there were significant increases in the number of motorhomes. In Essen in particular there was an increase of 16.7 percent compared to 2024.
In contrast, the number of mobile homes in Wolfsburg fell the most at minus 3.7 percent. This development could be due to the auto crisis in the region. While Heidelberg only recorded a decline of 0.5 percent, Karlsruhe remained stable with a slightly positive trend (0.7 percent), while Munich and Augsburg recorded increases of 2.8 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively, which is, however, below the national average.
New registrations of motorhomes
In summary, the data clearly shows a trend towards a further increase in the popularity of traveling with motorhomes and the associated infrastructure in Germany. The development underlines the increased interest in flexible travel options, which is also reflected in the new registration numbers.
