Peter Jöker, a 60-year-old from Wuppertal, decided not to travel back from Portugal by plane, but to ride an off-road e-bike to Cronenberg. The Cronenberg couple Jöker have been traveling in the northwest Algarve for years, and their last vacation only ended in mid-April. In a conversation with his wife, who had to return to Germany for professional reasons, Jöker expressed his wish not to fly home. His wife supported him in his decision to embark on this adventurous journey.
So Jöker began an expedition that would last almost 30 days. His path takes him through impressive coastal landscapes and picturesque villages that will shape his memories of the Algarve.
The route from Algarve to Alentejo
The route that Jöker includes in his travel planning is not only scenic, but also includes crossing the “Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina” natural park. This region is particularly known for its pristine beaches and authentic villages, which are great places to stay.
The cycle tour, which, among other things, is on the website of Hauser excursions is offered, includes daily departures for two people or more and offers a technique level of 2 and a fitness level of 2. The tour starts in Odeceixe and ends at the famous Cabo São Vicente.
An insight into the stages
The self-guided cycling tour lasts seven days and can be booked for groups of 1 to 10 people. The journey includes various cycling stages, each between 30 and 50 kilometers, with daily climbs of up to 200 meters. The first days of the trip go from Odeceixe to Zambujeira and Aljezur before continuing to Pedralva and finally Sagres.

Participants have the opportunity to rent bikes with 21 gears and necessary accessories. The price for helmets is €8.10. The trip offers numerous inclusions including accommodation and transfers, while additional costs for rental bikes and single room supplements may apply.
