A recent analysis of search behavior shows that northern European destinations are on the rise this summer. This particularly applies to trips to Switzerland, where there is a lot of interest abouttravel.ch has increased significantly. The analysis of search queries within the Hometogo group for trips between June 1st and September 30th, 2025 shows that demand for a large number of northern destinations has increased.
What is particularly outstanding is the increase in search queries for the Dutch coast with an extreme +157.8% compared to the previous year. Other northern regions such as Finland (+43.7%) and southern Sweden (+28%) are also seeing great interest. CEO Dieter Rumpel of E-Domizil AG explains that this trend may be due to the heat periods in the Mediterranean and the growing need for sustainability and nature.
Popular Swiss travel destinations
In Switzerland, the most popular destinations based on global demand are Grindelwald, Davos and Lenzerheide. The local population has a slightly different search behavior. The top 5 search queries are:

Holiday accommodation in the Swiss Alps
For travelers heading to the Swiss Alps, the holiday accommodations offer a variety of amenities. Loud holidu.de 92% of the accommodations have WiFi, 85% have a balcony and 42% have a garden. Prices are attractive, with 87% of holiday apartments and houses costing less than €100 per night.
The majority of accommodation (81%) is suitable for small groups of up to four people. Additionally, 61% have at least two separate bedrooms, expanding the options for families and groups. Many holiday homes also offer special amenities such as a pool (11%) or a sauna (14%). The Swiss Alps are therefore an ideal destination all year round for those seeking relaxation who want to enjoy both nature and comfort.
Overall, there is a clear trend towards more northern and nature-loving travel destinations, which is causing interest in the Swiss Alps to continue to gain momentum.
