Young travelers: Go to France in summer with the Deutschlandticket!

In the summer of 2025, teenagers and young adults under the age of 28 from Baden-Württemberg, Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate can use the Deutschlandticket to travel to France. The initiative, valid for the months of July and August, aims to promote cross-border mobility and support environmentally friendly travel. Loud Southwest24 With their valid Deutschlandticket or the D-Ticket JugendBW, travelers can get to Paris Gare de l’Est and the nearby Luxembourg.

An additional highlight is the use of French regional transport, in particular the TER Fluo trains, which offer a convenient connection. However, for journeys from Strasbourg and Mulhouse to Paris, a reservation is required, which can be made via the SNCF Connect platform. In addition, various bus lines and regional trains offer connections to neighboring French villages and cities.

Travel options and restrictions

The campaign also includes the use of regional trains such as the RB 25 from Offenburg to Strasbourg and the bus 231 from Rastatt to Soufflenheim/Seltz. An important restriction is that the Deutschlandticket is not valid on the tram between Kehl and Strasbourg: Here travelers have to switch to the regional train. In addition, urban and long-distance transport, including TGV trains, are excluded from this promotion.

Special features for the trip apply in particular to the reservation. Free reservation via SNCF Connect is necessary for certain connections to guarantee a place on the train. This applies primarily to journeys between Paris and regional cities such as Strasbourg and Mulhouse. In addition, travelers are required to carry a valid ID with proof of address to avoid misunderstandings.

Sustainability and long-term perspective

The aim of the summer campaign is to support sustainable travel behavior and create a closer connection between countries. This initiative was launched in 2024 and will be continually expanded. In order to take part in the campaign, young travelers need either the Deutschlandticket, the D-Ticket JugendBW in Germany or the Jeune Grand / Grenzenlos pass in France. This makes it possible for young people to travel easily and cheaply in the region near the border.

The cooperation partners behind this initiative would like to continue the offer in the coming years in order to promote exchange and understanding between cultures in the heart of Europe. Further information about connections and reservations can be found on the websites of Future public transport network and the respective timetable information can be obtained.
