Vietnam and Dominica: New ways of cooperation for travel and culture!
On May 28, 2025, Vietnamese Vice Minister Ho An Phong reiterated Vietnam's far-reaching efforts to pursue an open, multilateral and diversified foreign policy. The country strives to become a reliable partner and active member of the international community. In a recent meeting, Phong expressed Vietnam's motivation to deepen friendship and cooperation with Dominica, especially in the areas of culture, sports and tourism. A key concern is the creation of a visa-free agreement for ordinary passport holders of both countries, based on the existing diplomatic agreement.
As part of these efforts, Vietnam plans to welcome over 20 million international visitors this year. To facilitate international travel, the country has an open-door policy. Minister Vince Henderson of Dominica appreciated Vietnam's growing role in international forums and highlighted Dominica's support in organizations such as UNESCO and WTO. The two countries share common values that include peace, stability and sustainable development.
Special collaborations and goals
Dominica is currently awaiting approval to open an embassy in Vietnam. Dominica's notable achievements include winning a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, highlighting sporting cooperation. The possibility of exchanging training support between the two countries could be of great importance for future sporting development. It also highlights Dominica as a potentially attractive destination for Vietnamese tourists in the Caribbean.
In order to further expand bilateral relations, both sides should develop strategies to promote Vietnam's image in Dominica and vice versa. Henderson also expressed the desire to intensify exchanges and cooperation in the field of education in order to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Entry requirements to Vietnam
Many travelers are subject to a visa requirement to enter Vietnam. However, in certain cases, citizens of some countries, including Germany, France and the United Kingdom, can enter visa-free for up to 15 days. This regulation is valid until March 14, 2025. Travelers who wish to stay longer or do not have a passport from one of the countries mentioned are required to apply for a physical visa or an e-visa. The e-visa, which was introduced in 2018, can be applied for online and is cheaper and quicker to obtain.
Entry into Vietnam is now possible again, although the current corona measures must be observed. There is no proof of vaccination or proof of testing for Corona, but travelers must download a special app and take out health insurance for Corona treatments. It is also important to adhere to the basic rules for containing Covid-19 in Vietnam. Travelers must be abroad for at least 30 days after leaving the country before re-entry without a visa is possible in order to avoid abuse.
The cooperation between Vietnam and Dominica shows promising prospects for the future, both in the cultural and tourism fields, and could enrich the travel experience for tourists of both nations.
