DFB women enjoy the sun: holiday snapshots before the European Championship!

The German women’s national team players are currently enjoying a relaxing break as they prepare for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland. On June 12, 2025, the squad was announced, which consists of 20 field players and 3 goalkeepers. The team's captain is Giulia Gwinn, who also posted an impressive sea view from her holiday in Ibiza with the comment "in no rush".

Among the DFB players who are in the preparation phase is Jule Brand, who shared a photo from her vacation in Ibiza. Selina Cerci relaxes on Formentera, Linda Dallmann published a beach photo with the motto “switch off and recharge”. These recovery times come at just the right time as the team faces intense weeks ahead.

The European Championship preparation squad

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 will take place in Switzerland from July 2nd to 27th, 2025. In the group stage the German team will face Poland, Denmark and Sweden. The games will be held in several cities, including Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne, Sion, St. Gallen, Thun and Zurich.

The German Football Association (DFB) describes the squad as a “mixture of routine and carefreeness”. Experienced players like Sara Däbritz (108 international matches) and Lea Schüller (75 international matches) bring a lot of experience to the tournament. At the same time, seven players were nominated for a major tournament for the first time, including Carlotta Wamser and Franziska Kett.

Pleasant and unfortunate changes

However, some well-known players will not be able to take part in the European Championships. Alexandra Popp and Sara Doorsoun have announced their retirement from the national team. In addition, Lena Oberdorf was not nominated because she is not yet in the form required for a tournament after a long injury break.

The nominated goalkeepers who will support the team during the tournament are Ann-Katrin Berger, Stina Johannes and Ena Mahmutovic. Stina Johannes is now also enjoying a break and exploring Crete by bike.

Preparations for the European Championships are in full swing, while the players are getting the rest they need to start the tournament in top shape. Sjoeke Nüsken is making herself comfortable in Greece, while Lena Oberdorf, who cannot take part in the European Championships, is also spending a relaxing time in Ibiza with her colleague Lea Schüller.
