AIDA Cruises: New Greenland trips in 2026 despite changes to plans!
AIDA Cruises is planning a second trip to Iceland and Greenland with the “AIDAluna” for the summer of 2026. This new route will allow passengers to immerse themselves in the fascinating landscape of the northern regions. However, to accommodate the additional travel, some shorter trips in August and September 2026 will be canceled. The changes affect originally planned cruises from Hamburg and Warnemünde, including a six-day trip from Hamburg to Warnemünde. Affected guests have rebooking options available.
The first trip to Iceland and Greenland with the “AIDAluna” is already almost fully booked. This 21-day cruise takes place from July 26th to August 16th, 2026, with Hamburg serving as the start and end port. A standout feature of this trip is a solar eclipse that can be viewed in Reykjavik. The current price for the cruise is 4235 euros per person in the premium tariff, although only inside cabins are currently available.
Greater demand for northern cruises
With this change of plans, AIDA Cruises is responding to the high demand and customer feedback who want further cruises to northern regions. The adjustments to the schedule are part of the company's strategy to focus more on destinations such as Norway, Iceland and Greenland in 2026. This decision is no coincidence: in 2023, around 387,500 passengers went on expedition cruises to northern destinations, an increase of 21.6 percent compared to 2022.
The enthusiasm for Reykjavik is also reflected in the numbers: in 2024, a total of 90 cruise ships called at the port of Reykjavík, with 321,966 passengers on board. The second Greenland trip is planned for August and September 2026, but the exact dates are still pending. AIDA Cruises is reacting to the increasing number of passengers and the growing interest in the unique natural landscapes in the far north.
