Packing list for the Arctic Circle Trail: Everything you need in one place

Our detailed packing list for the Arctic Circle Trail contains everything you need for a hike through the wild and remote hinterland of Greenland

Fresh of my adventure trek on the Arctic Circle Trail in Greenland I thought it would be useful to share my full packing list for the Arctic Circle Trail as a reference for future trekker.

This comprehensive list contains everything I have taken, including camping and trekking equipment, clothing, food and cooking utensils, toilet items, medication and electronics. Where possible, I added links to the equipment that I took with me as a reference.

food and cooking equipment

What you eat on the way depends heavily on personal preferences. Below is my trekking diet for the Arctic Circle Trail. I am always aware of the weight on my back and therefore like to do without any luxury when I hike. I met some hikers on the way, who carried a dehydrated meal for lunch and dinner, and even some who packed a dessert for every meal!

Most hikers need between seven and ten days to complete the trail. For eight days I packed trekking with a few additional snacks and cereal seals if I needed an additional day.

along the way, wild berries grow-the slightly sour crowberry and the tasty arctic blueberry-with which I complemented my trekking nutrition. There are also wild mushrooms along the way that I saw regularly, but never eaten, even though they are perfectly edible.

  • 8 x breakfast: coffee, protein bar, muesli/yoghur drip
  • 8x lunch: protein bar, muesli/yoghurstriegel and black tea
  • 8 x dinner: dehydrated trekking meal, chocolate bar and hot drink
  • snacks: I snack between meals a homemade trail mix of nuts, dried fruits and chocolate as well as berries that I picked along the trail.
  • 1x camping cooker
  • 1 x camping gas (can be bought in Kangerlussuaq or Sisimiut)
  • lighters or waterproof matches
  • 1 x pot
  • 1 x spork (or cutlery)
  • 1 * cup
  • 1 x bowl or plate (optional - I ate my meals from the packaging)
  • 1 x 1 liter of nalgene water bottle

  • DSLR camera with replacement batteries (optional)
  • light mini-tripod
