Aguinid Falls is another epic multi-tiered waterfall located in Samboan Municipality in Southern Cebu. Here you'll find five tiers of flowing waterfalls, each offering opportunities to swim and jump into the crystal blue waters of the Cebu jungle.

In this guide I will outline everything you need to know about visiting Aguinid Falls Samboan, including how to get there, what to expect and how much it costs.

How to get to Aguinide Falls?

You have several options to get to Aguinid Falls in Samboan. Those coming all the way from Cebu City should expect a long 4-hour drive, so it's best to stay somewhere nearby.

On a Waterfall TourYou can book a Cebu 3 Waterfalls Tour that visits Aguinid Falls and two other epic waterfalls including the popular Kawasan and Malabuyoc Falls.

MotorbikeThe best independent way to get to Aguinid Falls is to rent a motorbike. This is better if you stay in Moalboal or Oslob. You can pick one up at these two tourist centers for 300-400 PHP per day. Scroll down from the exact location to find the falls.

If you plan to stay in Oslob during your trip to Cebu, then this might be the best way to get to Aguinid Falls. This is because it is a shorter route and a scenic drive around the southern tip of the island, passing the beautiful island of Sumilon along the way.

TricycleYou can pay a local tricycle taxi driver to take you directly to the falls. Prices vary depending on distance. Remember to swap.

Location of Aguinide Falls

Aguinid Falls is located about 1.5 hours from Moalboal in Samboan Municipality. This is south of Ginatilan where you can find other epic waterfalls like Inambakan Falls.

The epic 5-tiered waterfall is conveniently located very close to the main coastal road.

Arrival at the waterfall (EcoAdventure Park)

Since the beginning of 2018, there has been a program called EcoAdventure Park at Aguinid Falls. This is a little different from some of the other popular waterfalls in Cebu as you will need a guide to visit the multiple tiers of waterfalls.

Once you get to the park, just past the turnoff, you will most likely be asked by locals to leave your motorcycle at their houses. However, you will most likely be charged a fee.

Although I fully support locals trying to make some money from tourism, I think it's fair if they tell you the price upfront. That's why it's a good idea to first ask how much it will cost, usually 10 pesos is enough. For a small fee, they will take care of your helmets and motorcycle, and you will be supporting a local community.

After parking your bike, go to the ticket counter where you have to pay the entrance fee.

Aguinid Falls entrance fee

The entrance fee to Aguinid Falls is 60 pesos per person. This is the community fee and does not cover the guide.

There are several local guides waiting for eager travelers. These guides work on a rotational basis and typically only receive one tour per day. They receive no wages and rely entirely on tips. The ticket office is upfront with these details. It's entirely up to you how much you want to pay the guides after seeing the falls.

What to Expect at Aguinid Falls Samboan

The waterfalls themselves have a total of eight steps. However, the top three levels are reserved for professional canyoning teams. Therefore only the first five levels are accessible. That being said, these levels are still great and you could easily spend an entire day exploring them.

Aguinid Falls Plains

The first few levels are smaller waterfalls hidden between the jungle canyons. On each side are sheer limestone walls with dense jungle vines and overhanging palm trees.

Your guide will lead you through the first levels. On the first two levels you have to climb the waterfall using a fixed rope. Your guides are more than qualified to help you, but it requires some strength and balance to pull yourself up.

There are several deep, aqua blue pools for swimming and jumping as you climb the waterfall steps. Take your time and enjoy some of the smaller jumps. Ask your guide about the best places to jump.

The fifth and final level is the masterpiece of Agunid Falls. It is an oddly shaped limestone and calcium enriched waterfall that flows into a shallow pool. It is one of the most unique waterfalls in Cebu and just the right pressure flow to get a natural massage.

Some tips before you go

Before you head to Aguinid Falls, you might want to know some of these useful tips.
