How to get to the Anse Source d’Argent

Anse Source d’Argent is on the west coast of the island of La Digue on the Seychelles. It is part of the L’Union Estate and you must therefore pay the entry fee of SRC 115 to get access to the Anse Source d’Argent beach. In fact, this beach is the only one on La Digue for which you have to pay a fee.

The journey is very easy because La Digue is the smallest of the three popular islands on which you can spend the night. Therefore, the best way to move is to just rent a wheel and drive here on the paved roads that connect the villages, hotels and resorts.

I stayed in the incredible Chateau Street Cloud and she arranged a bike for me during my visit. Otherwise you can rent a bike for SRC 100-150 a day almost anywhere.

Visitors find the beach at the end of the property. Don't worry, there are signs everywhere that lead through the coconut palms, past the giant turtles and directly to the white sandy beach. You can drive your bike all the way through the property to a point just before Anse Source d’Argent, where you can park it for free.

About Anse Source d’Argent

Anse Source d’Argent was often described as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and also has the title of being one of the most photographed beaches of the world. No wonder that it is also the most popular beach in the Seychelles.

What makes it unique is the flat lagoon with clear water that surrounds its banks, and of course these beautifully weathered granite rocks. The Seychelles are the only Central Ocean granite Islands in the world, which means that they will not find such beaches anywhere else.

Visit to the most famous beach of the Seychelles

As soon as you arrive, you will find a clear path that leads to the beach behind the boulders. There is a small hut right at the entrance to the beach next to two of the largest boulders. If you go on, you will find a lot of space to spread a towel. There is also a small hut where you can buy drinks and fresh fruit.

On your walk along the coast, look for some of the famous rock formations, including Shark Rock, Coco de Mer Rock and Kissing Rocks.

Swimming in Source d’Argent is best with flood, as the lagoon almost dries out at low tide. The lagoon is protected from the Indian ocean, which makes it one of the safest beaches for swimming on the island.

Unfortunately, a large part of the corals in the lagoon were bleached by the El Nino event, but they may still see a crossing turtle and many fish that swim in the shallows.

Tip: Visit the Anse Source d’Argent early (before 10 a.m.) if you want to get a place for yourself. This is one of the most popular beaches on the island and can become very full in the high season.

Is Anse Source d’Arkent the best beach on La Digue?

Of course Anse Source d’Argent is a miracle and incredibly photogenic. I can certainly say that it is the most popular and famous beach on the island of La Digue. However, there are many other beaches that you should definitely visit, including Grand Anse, Anse Cocos and of course the remote Anse Marron.

Where to stay on La Digue

La Digue is a fairly small island and you can get anywhere within 20-30 minutes. You will find many hotels on the west side of the island near the jetty, but only a few along the narrow coastal road on the most inhabited east side.

On La Digue there is a large selection of hotel and resort offers that range from relatively "budget-friendly" self-catering lodges to incredible luxury resorts.

Amazing Chateau: Hotel Chateau St Cloud (mid -range) in the Chateau St Cloud I stayed on La Digue and I can personally recommend it as one of the best accommodation options on the island. This three-star hotel is perfect as a mid-range option because the location is excellent-just a little outside the main quarter in a quiet street, which is close enough to the incredible beaches in the southwest and port. The employees are all very courteous and the breakfast buffet is great. The rooms are very spacious and the hotel even has a pool and a bar.

Hotel am Water: Le Nautique (high-end) as one of the best accommodations on the water on La Digue, Le Nautique is a luxurious offer that combines traditional Creole architecture with modern comfort such as king-size and rain showers. Here you can also discover a fantastic outdoor restaurant and a beautiful garden environment.

Self -catering: Dream Holiday (Budget) Dream Holiday Self Catering is located at the northern end of the island, very close to the ferry terminal. This location is great because they are near bicycle rows, snack shops and even supermarkets on the main street of La Digue. Dream Holiday offers queen rooms with air conditioning, TV, own bathroom and even a balcony. This is a great option when you visit La Digue with a small budget, while comfort and location still have priority for you.
