Coconut Road - How to get to the famous Palm Tree Road on Siargao

A quick and simple travel guide to the famous Palmenstrasse on the island of Siargao, also known as Burgos Coconut Road.

Even on the flight to Siargao, you will probably be the first to notice how entirely this island is covered with different types of palm trees.

The Palm Tree Road Siargao is one of the most famous places, not the island to take great travel photos. It is also a really scenic road that you will most likely drive down if you already want to explore the island by bike.

In this short guide, I describe everything you need to know about the famous Palmenstrasse, including the journey, which you can expect and a few tips on how to take an unforgettable photo.

About the famous Palmenstrasse on Siargao

Okay, the Siargao Palm Tree Road or Burgos Coconut Road is not exactly a highlight or an outstanding attraction. However, it is easily one of the most popular places to take photos.

If you are a photographer like me, you will really appreciate this place. The long, smooth concrete road leads with almost perfect symmetry directly past a field of coconut palms. In the background you can see more jungle -covered mountains. It is a really photogenic place and definitely one where you should fly your drone if you have one.

How to come to the palm road

In the following I sketch the two options for getting to this legendary Palm Tree Road on Siargao.

Option 1: Siargao-Landtour

If you have little time or want to explore a number of different highlights on Siargao in one day, it is a good choice to book the Siargao Land Tour.

This is the most popular tour on the island and includes some indispensable activities, including:

  • Kokosstraße
  • Magpupfungko rock pool
  • curved palm swing

Option 2: Independent

For the independent discoverers, rent a bike in General Luna for between 250 and 350 pesos per day. In this way I explored a large part of Siargao during my visits.

The way to the Kokospalmenstraße on Siargao is simple and the streets on this route from General Luna are well maintained. The easiest way to get here is to simply enter the coordinates into the card below.

But what you want to do is to go to the famous palm viewpoint and simply go down the hill for about a kilometer.

where is it?

The Palm Tree Road Siargao is only a short 25-minute trip from General Luna (the most important tourist center). You will find it between other attractions such as the Palm Tree Lookout and the famous Bent Palm Tree on Maasin River.

The special coconut palm road that you are looking for is just a section of the Siargao CircumFerential Road that winds around the island.

Tips for taking an epic photo

So

So have you found the famous Palm Tree Road Siargao? Time to take a few photos. Here are some tips that help you make a great recording

  • Try to come here early as the best lighting is shortly after sunrise. In this way you can stop at the Palm Tree Lookout just before the street to experience the sunrise there.
  • bring a drone with you - most of these great pictures you saw online were taken out of the air. This gives the best perspectives on the symmetry and straight lines of coconut palms.
  • they become creative - most of the photos I uploaded here were taken a while ago. Since then there have been almost a million different photos from the same angle. Request yourself and become creative as a photographer to use this fantastic place! The next time I visit the Siargao Palm Tree Road, I will definitely try to capture some unique angles.
  • be careful - I am not here to instruct you, and it goes without saying. This is a main street on Siargao and you should make sure that you don't bother traffic, be it motorcycles, cars or buffalo carts!

As I mentioned, there is so much more to do in this area. While we actually went down this street countless times when exploring the island, you will find an independent route here to round off a good day of exploration.

If you are planning accommodation on Siargao, you should know that the most important tourist center is called General Luna.
