Full waterfall leader for visiting the Davies Creek Falls in the Davies Creek National Park near Mareba. Contains how you come here, what awaits you and photos of the famous infinity pool of the Davies Creek Falls!
Davies Creek Falls is one of the largest waterfalls near Cairns in terms of height. Davies Creek Falls is on the other side of the Lamb Range near the Tablelands City of Mareba and is a bit far from Cairns, but worth a visit!
The great thing about this waterfall is that it is only a very short hike to reach the infinity pool with a view of the water, the huge granite rock flows down into the gorge of the Davies Creek National Park.
In this short guide, I would like to tell you everything you need to know to take a trip to the Davies Creek Falls.

Davies Creek Falls-where is that?
The Davies Creek Falls are located in the National Parks Davies Creek and Dinden. The waterfall is a 1-hour drive from Cairns on Kennedy Highway.

To get here from Cairns, I suggest to go north to Smithfield and to take the winding Kennedy Highway to Kuranda and the famous Barron Falls. It is a scenic ride along the way and there are many things to do in the tablelands, so make a day trip out of it! If you drive past Kuranda and approach Davies Creek on Kennedy Highway, you have to look for a sign on the left side of the street. Take this left curve and from here it is only a short 10-minute piece of gravel road that winds up the gorge and winds up the mountain to the waterfall. The street is not paved, but you can easily manage it with a two -wheel drive because it is quite well graded, if a bit bumpy. Related Post: 14 Great things that can be done in Kuranda, Australia
Unfortunately there are no tour operators who offer excursions to this waterfall. This could be due to the fact that it is a little further off the beaten path than the rest. If you are in Cairns without a car, but still want to explore the epic waterfalls and swimming holes, I recommend that you take one of the many high -quality waterfall tours into the Tablelands. Below I linked the best and cost -effective waterfall tour from Cairns. It includes a stop at the famous Josephine Falls and the world -famous Millaa Millaa Falls to name just a few

What you expected at the Davies Creek if
Arrived at the waterfall, you will immediately see the signposted hiking trail next to the parking lot.
As soon as you start your short descent towards the waterfall, you will see a small detour that leads to a viewing platform. From here you have a fantastic view of the larger part of the waterfall and the flowing rivers at the bottom of the gorge.
A little further up on the way to the waterfall there are also some good places to sit and watch the waterfalls from above.
In the dry season, it is also possible to swim a little further up on the stream in the many swimming holes. There are signs to look for changes in the water flow. I am sure that it would be very dangerous for tropical downpours. It is best to keep an eye on the weather and don't swim when the current is too strong.

Davies Creek Falls Infinity-Pool
On quieter days, the best place for swimming is a deep hole right on the edge of the top waterfall level. It has a large overhanging tree and plenty of space to lay out a towel and enjoy the tropical weather in North Queensland.
This is known as the Davies Creek Fall Infinity pool. It is one of the most unique waterfall pools in the far north of Queensland, since the pool is over the waterfalls this time!
It can be a bit sketchy on the edge, so make sure you use the right judgment and do not blindly follow what you read online!

Best travel time for Cairns and Davies Creek Falls
Davies Creek Falls flows all year round. In the rainy season, however, it will be different than in the dry season.
Due to Cairn's tropical climate, most precipitation fall between December and March. In these hotter months, waterfalls and natural rivers become a refuge to escape tropical moisture.
This waterfall can be quite powerful and is considered dangerous in the rainy season. When I visited this waterfall in the dry season, he had a good combination of current and secure bathing spots.
