Ellinjaa Falls, Millaa Millaa, Queensland - what to expect
Ellinjaa Falls Queensland is a easily accessible and spectacular waterfall at the Millaa Millaa Waterfall Circuit on the edge of the WooroONORAN National Park. This waterfall only requires a very short walk and probably offers one of the most impressive waterfalls around Cairns and the tropical north.
looking for epic waterfalls near Cairns and the Queensland Tableland? If you plan to go to Millaa Millaa, I strongly recommend not to skip the Ellinjaa Falls.
In many ways, the Ellinjaa Falls are a more impressive waterfall than the more popular Millaa Millaa. For those among them who prefer a more natural atmosphere when exploring waterfalls, they will probably also enjoy Ellinjaa Falls more.
In this guide, I will describe in detail how to get to the Ellinjaa cases, even if you are not yet on the Waterfall Circuit. You will also find some useful tips and recommendations as well as some photos of Ellinjaa Falls to inspire your visit.
enjoy!

How to get to the Ellinja cases
The Ellinjaa Falls and the Millaa Millaa Waterfall Circuit are about 104 km (1 hour 40 minutes) driving from Cairns CBD. There are two ways to get here, either drive yourself or book a waterfall tour to Millaa Millaa.
Option 1: Drive from Cairns from
In my opinion, the best way to experience Cairns and the tropical far north is to have their own car and to explore. For a simple directions, enter "Ellinjaa Falls" or "Theresa Creek Road" in Google Maps.
from Cairns you have to drive south on the Bruce Highway towards Gordonvale. As soon as you approach the obvious Walsh’s Pyramid, keep an eye out for signs for the Atherton Tablelands above the Gillies Range Road.
Follow this winding road to the Tablelands, pass the crater lakes and follow the signs south to "Millaa Millaa", just behind Malanda. The Theresa Creek Road (Waterfall Circuit Road) is only about a minute away from the small community. There are very detailed signs for every waterfall on this street, so you shouldn't have any problems finding the Ellinjaa waterfall.
If you are looking for a cheap rental car offer in Cairns or elsewhere in Queensland, I recommend you to visit Rentalcars.com. This is a "car rental search engine" that works similar to Skyscanner, but for cars instead of flights.
Option 2: Waterfall tour from Cairns
I understand that many people would rather get into a tour bus and meet some people instead of driving themselves. Unfortunately there is only one tour that I could find in the entire region that stops on the Ellinjaa cases-and it is a fixed price for groups of up to 10 people.
This could be a good idea if you can meet a few friends in the hostel or if you visit Cairns with the family or in a group.
For solo travelers and couples, you must either rent a car or consider some of these alternative waterfall tours that include stops at the equally impressive dinner Falls, Josephine Falls, Millaa Millaa Falls and more (see below).

waterfall, wildlife and rainwald tour | Josephine Falls, Millaa Millaa, Dinner Falls, Schnabubier at Yungaburra, Lake Eacham |

What to expect at Ellinjaa Falls Queensland
The Ellinjaa Fall waterfall is an approximately 12 meter high waterfall that falls down a wide, vertical wall at the foot of a thick rainforest valley.
Below the waterfall is a blue tinted pool that is deep enough to swim in it, but do not expect it to be fully submerged.
The fresh water streams that flow out of the waterfall house one of the most famous animals in Australia; The platform. So make sure to behave calmly when you approach and see if you can see swimming or sitting on the bank.
There is also a small lead that you can crawl behind the waterfall to get some of the best viewpoints.

The path from the parking lot to the Ellinjaa cases is only about 200 m long and only takes a few minutes downhill. The path is paved all over the route, which makes it really accessible and easy to reach.
