The opening of the new “Singapore Oceanarium” on Sentosa Island is expected with great anticipation on July 23, 2025. This impressive sea adventure will be the former S.E.A. Replace aquarium that closed on April 30, 2025. With three times the size of its predecessor and 22 different experience areas, the Oceanarium will be a fascinating destination for visitors from all over the world interested in ocean life.
The Oceanarium offers a variety of breathtaking themed areas. These include Ocean Wonders, which is home to some of the largest gyroscopic habitats in the world and is ideal for sensitive marine life such as jellyfish. “Ancient Waters” and “Conquering Land” feature lifelike prehistoric creatures as well as living fossils. Another attraction is the “Ocean” with a 36 meter wide viewing window where visitors can directly observe manta rays and zebra sharks. Singapore's native mangrove habitats are also replicated under the Singapore Coast area.
Education and research in focus
A central goal of the Singapore Oceanarium is to entertain and educate about the importance of the ocean. For this purpose, an integrated research and education center will be set up in cooperation with the National University of Singapore. This center focuses on marine research, education and conservation. Additionally, the new center will be a certified Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy Building that uses solar energy.
Visitors can also look forward to new dining options in the Explorer’s Nook and Tide Deli areas, which feature maritime snacks and local collectibles. A gift shop with marine-themed items and sustainable products from local brands will also delight visitors.
Sentosa Island is considered an ideal location for this attraction as the island offers numerous recreational opportunities and is well connected to the city center.
