Pink Beach Komodo Island - Pink Sand Beach and Epic snorkeling
Pink Beach Komodo Island - Pink Sand Beach and Epic snorkeling
I am sure that I am not alone when I say that Pink Beach Komodo Island is one of my favorite beaches in the Komodo National Park and maybe throughout Indonesia. Yes, it's a pink sandy beach, but frankly this epic place is so much more than that.
Pink Beach Island Komodo
You will be surprised to hear that there are actually a few pink sandy beaches in the comodo national park. In fact, the sand is one of the most popular beaches; Long Beach is also a permanent light pink color.
The beach, which is allowed to carry the official title "Pink Beach Komodo Island", is a small bay oriented to the south at the top of the northeastern headland of the island of Komodo.
The color of the water here is absolutely incredible. The way in which the pink contrasts with the turquoise water was very important to me to start the drone to record it from above as soon as I have seen it.
But it doesn't end on the beach or in the air - Pink Beach is even more incredible under the surface. After I dipped some of the best diving sites in the national park, I still think that the outer reef edge of Pink Beach is as good as the big names!
Why is it pink?
Similar to the other pink sandy beaches of the world, the pink color is caused by microscopic organisms in corals called Foraminiferen. When these organisms are broken down, mix with the white sand, which means that this pink is "colored".

How do you come to Pink Beach Komodo Island?
People are usually visiting the pink sandy beach on the island of Komodo as part of an island hop or a boat tour in the Komodo national park. The reason for this is that this is probably the only way to see most highlights of the Komodo national park.
Unfortunately, no public ferries hold on the Pink Beach or on the island of Komodo. Therefore, you have to book a "tour" from the port of Labuan Bajo.
Although this may be disappointing for independent travelers, they are assured that these tours are not their typical tourist trap. Rather consider it as a convenient way to access all remote places in the Komodo national park.
The cheapest and cheapest boat tour that I could find (including bartering on the strip) is carried out by BINTANG TOURS. In addition to Pink Beach Komodo Island, this boat stops at the other two highlights, including Komodo Island, to see the real dragons and the hike to the Padar viewpoint.
If you want to see more of the Komodo National Park on a diving sauce that is several days, you can book online from Labuan Bajo or Lombok.

Entry fees for the Komodo national park
If you book or even dive a tour, it is common for you to pay the entrance fees for the Komodo national park in addition to your tour price. Since Pink Beach Komodo Island is part of Komodo Island and is therefore in the Komodo National Park, you have to pay 150,000 Rupiah per person, valid for the entire national park for 24 hours.
I wrote a detailed summary of all fees of the Komodo National Park in this article.

Activities on the Pink Beach
pink beach is the perfect stopover when you explore the incredible Komodo region. If you prefer to go to exploration than to laze on the beach, then I have a few tips for you.
snorkeling
At first glance you could think that a pink sandy beach on the regular circular route of the Komodo national park would only be a mediocre snorkeling area. You are wrong. Pink Beach Komodo Island was one of my absolute favorite places for snorkeling in Komodo. However, you have to swim a little out to achieve the good things. About 150 meters from the beach there is a steep coral slope with an incredible biodiversity in the sea. There are a variety of different types of coral, swarms of fish, rays and turtles.

Rosa beach-leaving viewpoint
After admiring the incredible underwater landscape on the outer slopes, go back to the shore and go to the beach viewpoint at both ends of the pink sandy beach. Really, they are only small hills, and it should only take a few minutes to go up. No matter, above you have a great view of the beach, which, depending on the time of day, is the best place to see how rosa the sand really is.

Spend the night in Labuan Bajo-accommodation leader
Where I stayed: Ciao hostel. In terms of hostels, this is one of the best I found in Indonesia. Everything is clean and the accommodation includes free transport to the airport or in the city. The hostel is located on a hill above Labuan Bajo and offers some of the best prospects in the city. This is also one of the hostel that is closest to the Batu Cermin Cave in Labuan Bajo.
Best Hostel in Indonesia - Seaesta Hosteleselhst If you don't stay here, a visit to the Seaesta hostel in Labuan Bajo is a must. This place is crazy! It has an incredible roof bar and a pool, a fully air -conditioned gym and super comfortable berths with thick mattresses. Although we didn't stay here, we decided to spend a lot of time here, relax and work by the pool.
cheap double bunk - Siola Hotelmeine second accommodation in Labuan Bajo was the Siola Hotel. This is super simple and more suitable for price -conscious travelers. If you are a couple, this is the cheapest double bed you can find in Labuan Bajo. For $ 9 you get a double bed right next to the night market and the harbor, free breakfast and a private bunk with bamboo door.
