How do you get to the waterfall suction on Mahé?

If you want to visit this waterfall on MAHE on your own, you must first go to Port Glaud.

To get here, you have three options. You can either pay a taxi driver, book a tour or take the public bus via the Sans Soucis RD (Bergstraße, which crosses the interior of Mahe and leads past the Morne Blanc Trail).

The cheap, local option to take a bus to the Sauzier-Wasserfall costs only about 14 SCR. There are many public buses that run from Victoria, just ask the driver if he is going to Port Glaud.

The price for a taxi varies. However, remember that you will probably also have to return from Port Glaud to your accommodation. This is easy with a bus, but if you prefer a private driver, you can instead include the Saucier if in this customizable full -day tour through MAHE with a private driver.

Waterfall input

When you arrive in Port Glaud, just take the road right next to the church. Peter and Paul. Just drive up this road, past beautiful island houses in the village. Hold on the fork at the fork and drive a few hundred meters away until you get to the ticket counter at the entrance to the Sauzier waterfall.

At the beginning of the short trail there are also enough parking spaces where you can park your car free of charge.

Tip: In the case of Sauzier Waterfall there is a known fraud. You will often see some locals on the street just behind the church, which tell you that the admission price is very high and that he knows a secret jungle route. Instead, he will ask you to pay him. I spoke in detail with the owner (the waterfall is on private ground) and the StB (tourist office), and these guys work illegally and defraud tourists. It is a good idea to politely reject and instead simply go to the ticket counter.

What you expect of this Mahé waterfall

Entry fee: 50 SCR

After you have paid the low entry fee, continue on a simple and short jungle path for about 5 minutes before you arrive at the foot of the waterfalls.

The path is easy to follow and you will probably hear the sound of falling water very early on.

The Saucier waterfall is a high, cascading waterfall that falls from the fresh mountain water of the Morne Seychelles National Park. I was told that the river is constant all year round. In the photos you see here, it hadn't rained for about a week.

At the foot of the waterfall there is a deep swimming pool that is very refreshing. The swimming hole is pretty deep, but not deep enough to jump from a cliff or jump from the adjacent boulders on the left.

Below are some other photos that I took during my short visit to the Sauzier-Wasserfall. I decided to walk past this place after hiking the amazing Mare aux Cochons Trail from the northeast near Beau Vallon and Anse Major. It was a great way to end a fantastic but sweaty hiking day on Mahé!
