Sail protocol week 3 - sailing for South Molle Island

This sailing week we spent a few more days at the Airlie Beach and sailed to South Molle Island.

Airlie Beach

The first few days of sailing this week saw little of the above. But we did not complain with the great attitude and the facilities on land.

While I was waiting for Haylea to arrive in Airlie Beach, I was able to optimally use the anchorage on the mainland before I sailed to the islands. This offered opportunities for morning runs and round swimming in the Airlie lagoon, a freshwater swimming pool on the bank.

Life on a boat also means that you do not miss a sunrise or sunset. This week we were lucky enough to witness some beauties.

Sailing according to South Molle Island

After doing work for the week, we were ready for the island life again. We decided to start the trip to South Molle Island, a beautiful island that we luckily had for ourselves for a few days.

For those who sail after South Molle Island, the Nordend, known as Bauer Bay, offers the best anchorage for developed Southeast Passatwinden.

There are several buoys on the east side of the bay, which were previously used for visitors to the resort. Anchoring right next to you is a good choice for protection and good hold.

South Molle Island left resort

The main anchor plan on South Molle Island is located directly outside of a once busy beach resort.

Unfortunately, this resort was completely destroyed during a cyclone in 2016. I am sure that the new owners were not too happy about it, especially when you consider that they had only bought it for $ 25 million a few months earlier.

Hiking and Bushwalk paths on South Molle Island

It seems that not many make the choice to sail after South Molle Island, which means that they will probably have the entire island for themselves if they decide to stop.

There are several hiking trails that are entertained by the QLD national parks. I'm not sure how regularly you do, but after you hike most open paths, it is clear that you have to do it quite often.

There are several island hikes and viewpoints to explore, of which the best spy is Kop on the northeastern corner. The hike lasts about an hour and a half from the beach of Bauer Bay, with winding grass hills and spectacular views via the Whitsunday Islands and Daydream Island.

sunsets on the South Island of Molle

having an entire island for us alone was too good to do without it. So we decided to spend the rest of the week relaxed and explore the island.

True to the Whitsunday-Ruhm, the islands offered some incredible sunrise and rates that I could hold on with the drone.

Back to Airlie

After sailing to South Molle Island and exploring the area, we returned to Airlie to work and take care of it for a few days.

the mast high

Due to a stubborn wind knife, I had to scal the front mast four times in a week.

It offered some rather decent views of Airlie Beach.

After we soldered a new battery, played around with the channel settings and re -connected a laid wire, we learned to test the valuable lesson before we install it on the mast head.

on Hamilton Island

The plans for next week see to pick up Haylea, who will fly to Hamilton Island and will accompany us to the Daintree on our trip.

We will also go to Whitsunday Island and look at the beach with the number one in the world.
