Tumalog Falls is a tall and wide waterfall near the popular tourist hotspot Oslob on the island of Cebu in the Philippines.
Although this waterfall is not known for an impressive flow of water, we were impressed by its sheer height and width. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in Cebu, especially if you're staying near Oslob! In this guide, I'll outline everything you need to know about visiting the falls, including how to get there, what to expect, and more!

Location of Tumalog Falls in Cebu
Tumalog Falls is located in Oslob Municipality, Cebu. Because of its proximity, many people combine a visit to this waterfall with the very popular whale shark tour.
The broader community is known as Barangay Luka and is close to the popular tourist center and whale shark operations.
Arrival to Tumalog Waterfall
The best way to get to Tumalog Falls is to ride a motorcycle or tricycle to the Tumalog Falls parking lot. Anyone coming from Oslob should expect a 20-minute drive to the parking lot.
From the main coastal road the road branches off for a short drive up the hills known as Tumalog Falls Road. I have marked the location of the parking lot on the map below.
Once you reach the parking lot, you will undoubtedly be asked by several locals to take you down the hill to reach Tumalog Waterfall on a motorbike. If you want to walk, it only takes about 15 minutes downhill to the base of the waterfall.

Tumalog Falls – What to Expect
Once you get to the bottom of the hill you will see a small ticket office. To access the waterfall area, you must pay an entrance fee of 20 pesos per person. This fee goes to the municipality of Oslob and pays for the maintenance and environmental protection of the waterfall.
Tumalog Falls is actually the second most popular waterfall in Cebu. However, this is due to the location rather than the size of the waterfall.

Nevertheless, it is still an epic waterfall for swimming or relaxing on hot days. The maximum height of the waterfall is about 100 meters. As mentioned, there is no roaring current, but rather a gentle trickle along a wide, moss-covered wall.
The waterfall is surrounded by lush jungle vegetation and steep limestone cliffs. There are also some scattered rocks around the main swimming hole.
While it is great for swimming, it is not as deep as some of the other waterfalls in Cebu. To balance the shallow basin, locals built a series of rocks and a concrete path along the banks to catch deeper water.

What to do at This South Cebu Waterfall?
Tumalog Falls is clearly a great place for swimming or general relaxation. There are also some small rock formations to explore.
Although the waterfall is the highlight, I also found the walk down to the waterfall pretty epic. There is a good view of the waterfall from the top of the hill. If you look outside, you can also see the dense jungle inside Cebu.

Tips for visiting Tumalog Waterfall
If you want to save money, the walk down from the parking lot is pretty easy. However, if you can't feel the way back, your money would probably be better spent paying a local to drive you up the hill.
Since Tumalog Falls is so close to the nearby whale shark operations, it's definitely advisable to get here early. When we arrived around 8am, we were the only ones at the waterfall. However, this quickly changed about an hour later after everyone came straight from the whale shark swim.
Remember to always take trash or rubbish with you. To help keep Cebu clean, why not collect some increased karma points and take a few pieces with you.
