The Legend of the Seas: Luxury cruise from 2048 euros!
Royal Caribbean recently made great progress in building its third Icon-class ship, Legend of the Seas. The ship was launched at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. Flooding the dry dock took an impressive twelve hours. The cruise ship, scheduled to debut in July 2026, will accommodate up to 5,610 passengers and is equipped with 2,805 cabins. It has a ship size of 250,800 gross tons (GT) and could even carry up to 7,000 passengers at its maximum capacity.
Starting in 2026, Legend of the Seas will offer voyages in the Mediterranean, specifically 3- to 7-night cruises from Barcelona, Spain, and Rome, Italy. After the summer season, the ship will relocate to the Western Caribbean and operate 3- to 8-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A 13-night transatlantic cruise is planned for this transfer.
Luxury and sustainability on board
The ship will have 40 bars and restaurants and offer an extensive water park as well as a variety of activities such as skywalks and surf simulators. Legend of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean's fourth ship to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), part of the company's environmentally friendly strategy. Royal Caribbean has set itself the goal of operating an emissions-free cruise ship by 2035 and is pursuing a comprehensive sustainability concept that includes, among other things, shore power connections and the use of waste heat.
Prices for Mediterranean cruises start at 2,048 euros per person, which seems reasonable for a luxurious experience aboard one of the largest ships in the world. Royal Caribbean also plans to build a fourth Icon Class ship by 2027, underscoring the continued expansion of its fleet.
