Sicily is calling: insider tips for beach lovers and cultural explorers!

Allison Tibaldi, an American expert on Italy, has visited Sicily in recent months and shared her experiences with the world. With over three dozen visits to Italy and an extensive knowledge of the country's different regions, she reflects on her experiences, particularly her most recent stay in Taormina. Yahoo Finance reports that Sicily is known for its picturesque beaches, delicious local cuisine and impressive ancient ruins. Your time in Taormina was marked by crowds and long queues, which underlines the charm of this tourist hotspot. Despite the busy streets, Tibaldi found relaxation in her hotel, which offered a pool and a private stretch of beach that were sparsely visited during her stay.

Tibaldi is already planning her next visit to the Italian island. She particularly noticed the lesser-known beach of Sovareto on the southwest coast, which she considers to be less crowded. Another destination on your next trip is the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site with exquisitely preserved Greek temples. Tibaldi regrets not having allowed enough time to visit other ancient sites, especially the impressive temple at Segesta.

Diverse options and culinary highlights

During her stay at the Verdura Resort, the desire to exercise also arose. Sicily has established itself as an up-and-coming destination for golfers. Tibaldi wanted to spend more time playing golf and enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. She is particularly impressed by Sicilian cuisine, not only because of the fresh seafood, but also because of the traditional desserts such as cannoli and cassata.

Although Tibaldi considered a private chef tour at her hotel, she ultimately decided against the experience. But her thirst for adventure remains unbroken. She plans to visit the Palermo Botanical Garden, which is considered an open-air museum and houses a variety of rare plants.

View of Isola Bella

Near Taormina is Isola Bella, also known as the “Pearl of the Ionian Sea”. This island, which has been a nature reserve since 1998, offers rich Mediterranean flora and fauna, including olive trees and prickly pear cacti. Italy Expert added that the island's clear underwater world is ideal for water sports such as snorkeling and diving. Visitors have the opportunity to spot an abundance of colorful schools of fish, sea urchins and even octopuses.

The island is not only a place for relaxation, but also a symbol of environmental protection and sustainability. Visitors are encouraged to respect nature and contribute to the preservation of the ecosystem. Tibaldi sees her missed opportunities in Sicily as an incentive to return soon and discover even more of the beauty of these unique regions.
