ViennaUP 2025: Startup festival with new ideas and networking opportunities!
The startup festival ViennaUP, which takes place over nine days in various renowned locations in Vienna, attracts internationally attentive founders and investors. The event is characterized by venues such as Karlsplatz, the town hall, the Gartenbaukino and the TU laboratories. An attractive program awaits participants, ranging from deep tech pitches to wine tastings and brass bands in the park. This diverse offering helps bring the community together, with Karlsplatz serving as a central meeting point incubator reported.
In 2024, the impressive proportion of international startups was almost 70 percent. Such numbers illustrate the importance of ViennaUP as a platform for exchange and networking of various actors from the startup scene. In addition to important events such as Connect Day and Impact Days, there are numerous side events that address the needs of founders and innovators.
Special events and offers
This year the festival has some standout events to offer. The Austrian premiere of the film “The Million Dollar Bet” took place at the Gartenbaukino on May 9th, where director Thomas Woschitz offered a live Q&A session with the film team. The vegan entrepreneur Mona Heiß also presented her vegan Camembert “Cam-mmb-erta” on Karlsplatz on May 13th and is looking for potential pilot customers and investors for her food tech startup.
On May 14th, Antonia Rinesch from Noctua Science Ventures will invite you to the pre-mini launch of the “Spin-Off Factory” at the TU Vienna. This initiative aims to bundle innovation services and map the spin-off ecosystem in Austria. Werner Müller from FFG will present the GO AUSTRIA program on May 15th, which connects international founders with the Austrian ecosystem.
Networking and community
ViennaUP's central ticketing platform promotes personal networks and meaningful connections between participants. Particularly noteworthy is the Connect Day on May 13th, where around 1,500 participants are expected. With over 50 events that have a networking focus, the festival offers a variety of networking opportunities, often within specific industries or topics.
ViennaUP's home base in the historic city center of Vienna is a popular place for networking activities. Free daily wine and beer tastings as well as small Viennese dishes are offered here. Participants can also use the Café Spaces, which were set up in partnership with traditional Viennese cafés. These not only offer free drinks, but also exclusive rounds for small groups of startup representatives, investors or experts that take place in the coffee house sessions.
The comprehensive program and numerous networking opportunities make ViennaUP a hub for innovators and entrepreneurs who want to advance their ideas and make valuable contacts. Further details about the events can be found on the ViennaUP website: viennaup.com.
