Pink Beach Lombok - complete beach guide

At the southeastern corner of Lombok there is a natural phenomenon known as Pink Beach Lombok or Tangsi Beach. Apparently there is only a handful (the exact number seems a little sporadically) pink sandy beaches in the world, some of which are in Indonesia.

Pink Beach Lombok receives his pink tint through a natural mix of shredded, dead corals and white sand. Yes, the beach is really pink, and it is worth taking a look at it if you are in the mood for an adventure on Lombok's remote east coast.

Rosa Strand Lombok-where is that?

As I mentioned, Pink Beach is a little far from the regular tourist attractions of Kuta Lombok. In fact, you will find it hidden in a small village in Sekaroh on the Ekas peninsula.

Due to the remote location, the journey here is a small mission, but definitely possible on a DIY lombok route or through an organized tour.

How do I get from Kuta Lombok to the Pink Beach?

Since most people who visit the south coast choose to stay in Kuta Lombok, I will add a short guide here.

Google Maps has updated and correct navigation instructions for the trip from Kuta Lombok to Pink Beach. The right place is marked as a "Pink Beach" and not as "Pantai Pink".

I would also recommend downloading the route beforehand because the service is incomplete on the way.

Start the long journey by driving east to JL. Senkol, the same street that leads to the Taanjung Aan Beach and the epic sunset viewpoint Bukit Marese. Instead of bending, drive for about an hour on this road to and around the coast of Awang Bay.

Finally you can reach a long, stone road through the Ekas peninsula. Continue on the same bumpy road without doing any tours until you finally reach the Lombok Pink Beach.

As soon as you arrive, you will notice an old plastic tourism banner and a local fee driver who is to collect your entrance fee. The entry fee for Pink Beach Lombok is currently 25,000 Rupiah per person.

I found that a bit too steep, just to visit a beach. But after the long journey I didn't want to turn back.

What you can expect at the Pink Beach Lombok

After reluctantly giving the 25 km, we continued down the rocky slope, where we could catch our first glance at the Pink Beach.

The beach itself is quite small and forms a horseshoe bend made of pink and aquafarben contrasts. The water is incredibly clear here, even at low tide.

However, if you don't plan to spend a whole day here, I would suggest visiting the beach at flood. During this time the beach is actually pink and the water for swimming and snorkeling is deeper.

Epic eroded cliffs

After we had relaxed after the long journey, we decided to explore the surrounding coastal cliffs. This was one of my favorite places when visiting Pink Beach, and it reminded me more of Lagos in Portugal than everything I had previously seen in Indonesia.

I would recommend running around on both sides to get a better view of the famous Pink Beach from Lombok and some breathtaking views of the nearby islands.

On the right side of the beach, you can go all the way to a hidden cave that is difficult to reach and requires a bit of swimming. There are also some small but epic jumping points in deep, clear water around this side of the bay.

Immediately after I had climbed the left headland, I regretted that I had not undertaken a boat trip through this area of ​​Lombok. This coast is littered with amazing islands that let me drool when I saw it from the drone.

Why is the Pink Beach from Lombok "Pink"?

How do you ask yourself: "Why is Pink Beach Lombok Pink?" According to Rove.me, the pink tones on the beach of Tangsi are caused by unique microscopic organisms in corals called Foraminiferen. When the coral collapses, these red organisms mix with the white sand, which gives the beach a pink color.

How "pink" the sand actually is depends on the angle of the sun and how wet the sand is. For this reason, it is better to visit the flood when the waves stroke the shores.

If you want an adventurous day trip and want to see a unique phenomenon that is only available in some parts of the world, the answer is yes.

admitted, the way to the Pink Beach Lombok is a bit long and bumpy, I enjoyed the coastal road and saw this other incredible side of Lombok, which I would probably not otherwise have.
