GC Women ready for European premiere: The duel against Shymkent is coming up!
The excitement among the GC women is increasing because their first competitive international football match is scheduled for September 10, 2025. The team will face Kazakh club WFC BIIK-Shymkent in the Women’s Europa Cup. The first leg kicks off at 7:00 p.m. in Letzigrund. This not only marks the beginning of a new era for the GC Women, but is also the first ever participation in a European competition. Captain Luna Lempérière says that the upcoming international challenges give the team a lot of energy.
The GC women got off to a great start in the domestic Women’s Super League. They played three games and achieved three wins without conceding any goals. This positive result could give them the necessary self-confidence for the encounter with the record champions from Kazakhstan. BIIK Shymkent has already defeated well-known opponents such as Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon in the past and is therefore the clear favorite in this first round.
Ticket sales and entrance fees
Advance ticket sales for the first leg have already begun. Tickets are available online and at the box office. The prices are as follows:

The post-game challenges
After the second leg against BIIK Schymkent, the GC women have to travel over 4,000 kilometers back to Switzerland, followed by a league game against FC Basel. Coach Joao Paiva sees the encounter as a great opportunity, even if the opponents are favorites. Progressing in the first round would mean that the GC women would be on the same level as champions YB, who are playing in the second knockout round of the European Cup after being eliminated early in the Champions League qualification.
UEFA has launched this new competition, which is comparable to its men's counterpart, the Europa League. The requirements are clear: The round will be played in knockout mode, with home and away games, and the round of 16 will begin in November. The GC Women are ready to take on this challenge and look forward to the support of their fans in this historic game.
Members of the media will also have the opportunity to be accredited for the game, with requests must be submitted no later than 72 hours before kickoff. The home club processes all inquiries and provides information about approval. The doors to the media center are open to accredited journalists on match day. A strict regulatory format applies to photographers who are only allowed to create single images.
Further information on the details of the game and accreditation can be found on the websites of SRF and GC women's football to find.
