General Assembly in Mürren: New ways for the Schilthornbahn 2025!
On Friday, June 20, 2025, the General Assembly of Schilthornbahn AG took place in the Alpine Sportzentrum in Mürren. A total of 266 shareholders were present, which corresponds to 64.12 % of the share capital. A total of 24,685 share votes were submitted, so that the assembly could hold a comprehensive review of the past financial year 2024.
The year 2024 was characterized by challenges for the company, especially by the construction of the Schilthorn summit from October. Nevertheless, the financial year started positively with excellent snow conditions and strong winter business. The summer months were also able to stay at a very good level of the previous year, while the Panorama Restaurant Allmendhubel recorded an increase.
Review of the 2024 financial year
A special milestone was the opening of the world's steepest cable car and the first Funifor railway in Switzerland on December 14, 2024. These measures come from the extensive Schilthornbahn 20xx construction project. Despite the impairments by the construction activities, the number of visitors remained at a high level until the Schilthorn summit was closed. However, the setbacks did not fail to materialize; The dismantling of the air cable car led to a noticeable decline in frequencies and sales.
The total income decreased by 1.7 %, which corresponds to sales of CHF 32.2 million. The profit was CHF 1.05 million, but a decline in EBITDA was recorded to CHF 6.07 million. The reasons were in higher personnel costs, the activation of personal contributions and increased energy prices. A positive aspect was the turnover of sales in the catering instinct: the decline in sales of the 360 ° restaurant Piz Gloria was only 17 %, while the Panorama Restaurant generated sales for the first time over a million francs and thus had a plus of 10 %.
resolutions and outlook on 2025
The general assembly unanimously passed the annual report and the annual accounts 2024. In addition, the waiver of a dividend distribution was decided to cover the increased liquidity requirement. KPMG AG from Bern was elected as a revision office for another year.
The company is optimistic about the 2025 financial year. The winter season 2024/25 was completed with an increase of 4.4 %, and since the reopening of the Schilthorn summit on March 15, 2025, an increase of 27 % has been recorded on excursion guests. The planned projects also include the opening of the second lane Mürren-Birg on November 28, 2025, which will enable 800 people per hour. Another important project is the construction of a new staff house in Mürren with 13 residential units, which should be ready for reference in December 2025.Johannes Stöckli, Managing Director of Schilthornbahn AG, confidently commented on the developments and emphasized that the enthusiasm for the new experience among the guests was ongoing. Trust and curiosity for future projects are also noticeable, which underlines the positive development of the company.
