General meeting in Mürren: New paths for the Schilthornbahn 2025!

On Friday, June 20, 2025, the general meeting of Schilthornbahn AG took place in the Alpine Sports Center in Mürren. A total of 266 shareholders were present, which corresponds to 64.12% of the share capital. A total of 24,685 share votes were cast, allowing the meeting to take a comprehensive look back at the past 2024 financial year.

The year 2024 was marked by challenges for the company, particularly due to the closure of the Schilthorn summit from October due to construction. Nevertheless, the financial year started positively with excellent snow conditions and strong winter business. The summer months also remained at the very good level of the previous year, while the Panorama Restaurant Allmendhubel recorded growth.

Review of the 2024 financial year

A special milestone was the opening of the steepest cable car in the world and the first Funifor cable car in Switzerland on December 14, 2024. These measures come from the extensive SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX construction project. Despite the disruption caused by the construction work, visitor numbers remained at a high level until the Schilthorn summit was closed. However, there were setbacks; The dismantling of the cable car led to a noticeable decline in frequencies and sales.

Total income fell by 1.7%, corresponding to sales of 32.2 million francs. Profit was 1.05 million francs, although EBITDA fell to 6.07 million francs. The reasons were higher personnel costs, the activation of in-house contributions and increased energy prices. A positive aspect was the sales development in the catering establishments: the decline in sales of the 360° restaurant Piz Gloria was only 17%, while the Panorama Restaurant Allmendhubel generated sales of over one million francs for the first time and was therefore able to record an increase of 10%.

Decisions and outlook for 2025

The general meeting unanimously approved the annual report and the 2024 financial statements. In addition, it was decided not to pay a dividend in order to cover the increased liquidity requirements. KPMG AG from Bern was elected as auditor for another year.

The company is optimistic for the 2025 financial year. The 2024/25 winter season ended with an increase of 4.4%, and since the Schilthorn summit reopened on March 15, 2025, there has been a 27% increase in excursion guests. The planned projects also include the opening of the second Mürren-Birg track on November 28, 2025, which will enable a transport capacity of 800 people per hour. Another important project is the construction of a new staff house in Mürren with 13 residential units, which should be ready for occupancy in December 2025.

Johannes Stöckli, Managing Director of Schilthornbahn AG, expressed his confidence about the developments and emphasized that the guests' enthusiasm for the new experience continues to be great. Trust and curiosity for future projects are also noticeable, which underlines the positive development of the company.
