Holiday paradise 2025: cheap trips for Germans in view!
The 2025 holiday season is just around the corner and travelers from Germany can look forward to numerous attractive travel destinations. Market value expert Jens Klatt explains where Germans get the most vacation for their money. The euro's proven strong exchange rates in many countries make planning easier for many vacationers. The most popular travel destinations for Germans are various regions that are located both in Europe and in non-European countries.
Favorites include the Baltic Sea, Bavaria and the North Sea, followed by sunny destinations such as Spain, Turkey, Greece and Egypt. The new findings suggest that the weak dollar due to Donald Trump's tariff policies is favoring European travelers. The current exchange rate is approximately 1 euro = 1.11 USD, making travel to the USA cheaper compared to 2024. Particularly noteworthy are the price developments in Egypt and Turkey, where the local currency was significantly devalued.
Attractive prices in popular holiday destinations
The advantages of the strong euro are also evident in other countries. In Argentina, the euro has increased in value, meaning beer and meals cost significantly less for travelers compared to previous years. Similar developments can be seen in Mexico, Brazil and Hungary, where the euro has also become positive. Using Hungary as an example: A simple meal costs around 10 euros with an exchange rate of 398 forints for 1 euro.
Caveats and less attractive exchange rates
While the euro has gained strength in many countries, there are also regions where the situation is reversing. In countries like Mauritius, Kenya and Sri Lanka the euro has fallen flat, meaning holidaymakers here can expect a poor exchange rate. In Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, the euro has lost a lot of value, which is having a negative impact on travel costs.
Overall, it can be said that the Euro 2025 offers a high value in many holiday regions, which can be crucial for both short and long-term travelers. German holidaymakers are well advised to find out about the current exchange rates before booking in order to get the best value for money.
