Danger to life in Israel: Foreign Office warns against traveling!

Political tensions in the region are increasing dramatically. After numerous military clashes between Israel and Iran Foreign Office A travel warning was issued for Israel and surrounding countries. In particular, an acute threat to life is reported for the urban population and international institutions in Israel.

The warnings affect not only Israel, but also several neighboring countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan. In response to the escalating situation, the federal government activated the Federal Foreign Office's crisis team, which is continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating possible evacuations for German citizens.

Military attacks between Israel and Iran

The conflicts between Israel and Iran have increased in intensity in recent days. On June 14, 2025, it was reported that Israel shelled an airport in Tehran. This is part of a series of attacks that both sides have launched against the other. Iran responded by firing dozens of rockets into Israeli territory, many of which were intercepted by Israel's air defenses.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has warned Iran that attacks on civilian targets would result in a "very high price" for Tehran. There were reportedly numerous Jewish civilian casualties during these military escalations in Israel. Areas around Tel Aviv were particularly affected, where sirens wailed and there were numerous impacts. At least three people were killed in these attacks and many more were injured.

Regional impacts and international reactions

The situation remains tense as Israel plans further military strikes against Iran, particularly against Iranian oil facilities in the event of renewed attacks on Israeli population centers. Tehran, for its part, has threatened devastating retaliatory attacks on key economic and energy centers in Israel. At least 78 people, including high-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists, are said to have died in Israeli attacks since the military conflict began.

Amid these tensions, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria have reopened their airspace to civil aviation, while Iraq is keeping its airspace closed until a certain date. The international community, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, is calling for de-escalation and describing the situation as worrying.

German citizens are advised to register on the ELEFAND crisis preparedness list and to follow the embassy instructions carefully to ensure their own safety.
