Travel chaos in the Middle East: Warnings issued for Israel and UAE!

Current developments in the Middle East have led to major changes to international air traffic and travel warnings. Loud MDR reports, the security situation for travel to Israel is very tense, which influences the decision of many tour operators not to offer trips there. These concerns also extend to other Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Holidaymakers are urged to avoid non-essential travel to this region.

The military clashes between Israel and Iran have also severely affected air traffic. Various airlines have suspended or canceled flights, particularly on June 19 and 20, 2025, which also impacts Dubai Airport. Lufthansa, for example, has temporarily suspended its flights to Tehran and extended the cancellation of flights to Tel Aviv. Other airlines, including Swiss, Austrian and Emirates, are also affected.

Security situation in the UAE

The Foreign Office points out that the security situation in the UAE remains tense due to the current military conflicts. Travelers are advised to pay close attention to local media and avoid busy places. It is advisable to register on the “ELEFAND” crisis preparedness list in order to be informed quickly in the event of an emergency.

Despite the tense security situation, authorities in the UAE emphasize that the country is one of the safest travel options compared to the region. Domestic political stability is high and no major protests or strikes are expected. The crime rate in the country is also low, although isolated cases of pickpocketing and attacks on women traveling alone can occur.

Travel information

German citizens can enter the UAE with a biometric passport for up to 90 days without a visa. However, some entry requirements can change at short notice, which is why travelers should inform carefully before traveling. It is also advisable to take basic health precautions, such as vaccinations against hepatitis A and carrying a first-aid kit.

The cultural framework in the UAE is clearly influenced by Islam. Travelers should adhere to local customs, particularly regarding dress and behavior. Homosexual acts are punishable by law and possession of alcohol is only permitted in licensed establishments. Violations of local laws can result in severe penalties, including the death penalty.

Given the current situation, it is advisable to exercise caution when planning trips to the UAE and regularly inform yourself about the situation in order to travel safely and well prepared.
