ASEAN celebrates cultural diversity in Kuwait: A feast for all the senses!

A cultural event of the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK), organized under the chairmanship of Vietnam, was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait on May 18. This event attracted hundreds of participants, including members of diplomatic missions, international organizations, the local community and the International Women’s Group (IWG). Ms. Polina Dlamini, Chairperson of the IWG, highlighted the cultural diversity of ASEAN member countries and their growing presence in Kuwait, such as Vietnam.vn reported.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang reiterated ASEAN's goal of building a prosperous community and honoring cultural values. These statements reflect ASEAN's commitment to promoting cultural exchanges and understanding. In particular, the focus on tourism, which is crucial to the region's growth, was part of the discussion. ASEAN expects more than 122 million international visitors in 2024, supported by a safe and friendly tourism environment in countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Diversity of cultures and traditions

The event included a cultural festival with performances from Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam. Such performances are not only entertaining, but are also intended to promote interest in different cultures. Videos were also presented that introduced the cultures and tourist destinations of the member countries.

Another highlight was a dinner party where traditional local dishes were served. This culinary diversity created a cozy atmosphere and offered participants the opportunity to discover the diverse tastes of the ASEAN countries. To commemorate the event, participants received gifts of high-quality products from ASEAN countries and won prizes from the organizing committee.

Promoting culture and tourism

The event not only honored cultural values ​​but also demonstrated the solidarity and unity of ASEAN member countries. To further promote awareness of culture and tourism, the ACK President announced the establishment of an Instagram channel of the Vietnamese Embassy. This channel aims to provide information about the culture and tourism of ASEAN countries.

These steps are important to support tourism development in the ASEAN region.
