Trump in Saudi Arabia: mega arms deals and billions in investments!

US President Donald Trump began his Middle East trip today, which is marked by important economic and military contracts. The trip aims to cement strategic partnerships with countries such as Saudi Arabia, which has already seen billions of dollars of inflows from U.S. companies. On Tuesday, at the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, numerous agreements were presented that are intended to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

Trump had previously announced that Saudi Arabia would invest $600 billion in the USA over the next four years. This is underpinned by Saudi Vision 2030, pushed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to make the kingdom's economy less dependent on oil.

Military and technological agreements

On one of the first days of his trip, a historic arms deal worth nearly $142 billion was concluded between the United States and Saudi Arabia. This is the largest defense sales agreement in U.S. history, covering not only the delivery of advanced war equipment but also driving comprehensive economic contracts and investments in the United States.

In addition to the military agreements, US technology companies have made significant commitments. Nvidia will be able to ship 18,000 Blackwell GPUs to Saudi Arabia to develop AI models. AMD, on the other hand, plans to partner with Humain to invest up to $10 billion in AI computing capacity. Amazon Web Services and Google are also active with notable investments in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the delivery of over $5 billion for an “AI Zone” and the support of a $100 million STV AI investment fund.

Economic discussions and strategic importance

Trump, accompanied by several Cabinet members, will also speak with representatives from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates during his trip. A lunch with around 250 government officials and business people, including business leaders such as Elon Musk and Larry Fink, is part of the program. The economic talks are also expected to touch on issues such as the Gaza war and the conflict over Iran's nuclear program.
Saudi Arabia is of strategic and military importance to the US, particularly as a counterweight to Iran, which forms the framework for these extensive negotiations.

Overall, Trump's trip to the Middle East demonstrates the US government's intense efforts to strengthen economic and military ties while responding to the challenges in the region. A new era in US foreign policy is sought with a focus on comprehensive treaties.
