Curtis Falls Mt. Tamborine & Lower Creek Circuit

Curtis Falls Mt. Tamborine & Lower Creek Circuit

A complete guide for visiting the Curtis Falls on Mt. Tamborins. Everything you need to know about the waterfall and the Lower Creek Circuit Walk.

The Curtis Falls Track in MT Tamborine National Park is a lush waterfall hike, which is easily accessible and offers probably the most beautiful waterfall in the area. Visitors have the opportunity to continue the short 500-meter walk to the waterfalls or on an entertaining Bach loop that is known as Lower Creek Circuit.

A walk on the Curtis Falls Track is a great way to enjoy a piece of the unique rainforest environment of the MT Tamborine National Park. Huge flooded rubbers break out of the narrow path into the sky, while listening to the quiet noises of the rainforest birds and the clean flowing water. The main event, Curtis Falls, is a must for everyone who takes the trip to the Tamborine Mountain.

Where is Curtis Falls in Mt. Tamborins?

The Curtis Falls Track is located in the municipality of Tamborine Mountain in the hinterland of the Gold Coast. This region is about 40 km from Surfer’s Paradise (50 minutes). The starting point includes a decent parking lot and toilet facilities.

How do I get here

Every excursion to Mt. Tamborins includes climbing one of the three steep and winding streets on the old volcano. If you come from the Gold Coast, I would recommend taking Henri Robert Drive, as this is one of the most scenic roads that I have seen in the region.

I would recommend using Google Maps to navigate to the PIN above, which leads you to the parking lot of the hiking trail. There are about 20 parking spaces here and you can also park on the street next to the parking lot. Remember that Curtis is one of the most popular waterfalls in Mt. Tamborins so that you can assume that it will be a bit full on weekends.

About the Curtis Falls and the Lower Creek Circuit

Hiking route: 3.5 km loop (550 m to the curtis if)
Duration and back (10 minutes to the curtis if)
difficulty: Simple

Curtis Falls on Mt. Tamborins has two routes, the Curtis Falls Track and the Lower Creek Circuit. Both are accessible from the same starting point. However, the Lower Creek Circuit begins as an additional stream loop that ends near the waterfall.

hikers go back from the waterfall to the parking lot on the same path, regardless of whether they choose the additional circuit or not.

Both tracks are very easy to navigate, with just a few sections in which artificial stages are climbed. However, the end of the loop of the Lower Creek Circuit includes a shallow stream crossing. But don't worry, you can jump over the rocks if you don't want to get wet feet.

The routes show a rich damp eucalyptus forest and dense ferns around the stream. On a sunny day, look for giant turtles on the rocks and for the difficult to grasp, of which you know that you live in the stream. In addition, some of the huge rubber trees that shoot up on the route are among the highest I have ever seen and have taken the walk for me.

Curtis Falls-Track

The starting point of the Curtis Falls Track is easy to see from the parking lot. There are also arrow markings with distance estimates along the route. So it is impossible to get lost. Although the way to rain can get muddy, you can easily run in your belt to the waterfalls.

After a short route into the hiking trail, the path is divided into a fork with a sign. Turn left here and drive 105 meters away to the waterfalls or turn right to continue on the 1.6 km long Lower Creek Circuit Loop.

Here you can take a few photos and enjoy the view. Curtis Falls is about 12 meters high and, depending on the season, can vary from a raging stream to a gentle trickle.

It is also possible to circle this platform to the left to get behind Curtis. However, there is a sign that calls on the visitors to stay on the platform in order not to affect the habitats of platform animals and fireflies.
