Innsbruck cheers: Record season in winter brings tourist boom!

Innsbruck, Österreich - The Innsbruck region can look back on a successful winter season 2024/25, such as meinbezirk.at . A total of around 1.71 million overnight stays were recorded, which corresponds to an increase of 6 % compared to the previous year. Arrivals also rose by 5 % to 710,000. The duration of the guests in the city of Innsbruck was 1.8 nights on average, which corresponds to an increase of 2 %. The West region is particularly noteworthy, in which the length of stay is increasing to 3.1 nights (+4 %), while Kühtai-Sellrain had the longest length of stay with 4.6 nights.

An increase in international guests was recorded: the arrivals from Australia rose by 46 %, followed by the United States with 19 %and China with 17 %. In order to further promote internationalization, direct flights, for example by Madrid, are pushed away. Advent markets play a key role in winter start and focus on quality development to create an even more attractive offer.

expansion of winter sports offers

An important new offer is the Peter Anich III railway at the Rangger Köpfl, which extends the winter sports offer and also appeals to non-skiers. Over 100,000 ski days were counted there. In order to increase the attractiveness of the region beyond the winter season, investments in events and infrastructure of around 1.4 million euros are planned for the summer. Hoteliers expect an occupancy rate of around 70 % in July and August.

Sustainable management in tourism is becoming increasingly important today. For example, organizations such as the WWF support sustainable practices in tourism to minimize the ecological effects. As shown on the WWF website, sustainable tourism aims to protect the area and at the same time offer guests a high quality experience. This is not only important for the preservation of nature, but also for the long -term securing of tourist destinations.

The positive record of the winter season and the planned preparations for the summer show that the Innsbruck region remains dynamic and faces the challenges in tourism. At the same time, sustainable approaches ensure that the beauty of the Tyrolean landscape is also preserved for future generations.
