Innsbruck rejoices: record winter season brings tourist boom!

The Innsbruck region can look back on a successful 2024/25 winter season meinkreis.at reported. A total of around 1.71 million overnight stays were recorded, which corresponds to an increase of 6% compared to the previous year. Arrivals also rose by 5% to 710,000. The average length of stay of guests in the city of Innsbruck was 1.8 nights, an increase of 2%. Particularly noteworthy is the West region, where the length of stay increased to 3.1 nights (+4%), while Kühtai-Sellrain had the longest length of stay at 4.6 nights.

An increase in international guests was recorded: arrivals from Australia increased by 46%, followed by the USA at 19% and China at 17%. In order to further promote internationalization, direct flights, for example from Madrid, are being promoted. Advent markets play a key role in the start of winter and focus on quality development to create an even more attractive offering.

Expansion of winter sports offerings

An important new offering is the Peter Anich III cable car at Rangger Köpfl, which expands the winter sports offering and also appeals to non-skiers. Over 100,000 skier days were counted there. In order to increase the region's attractiveness beyond the winter season, investments in events and infrastructure of around 1.4 million euros are planned for the summer. Hoteliers expect an occupancy rate of around 70% in July and August.

Nowadays, sustainable management in tourism is becoming increasingly important. Organizations like WWF, for example, support sustainable practices in tourism to minimize ecological impacts. As outlined on the WWF website, sustainable tourism aims to protect the environment while providing guests with a quality experience. This is not only important for the preservation of nature, but also for the long-term security of tourist destinations.

The positive balance of the winter season and the planned preparations for the summer show that the Innsbruck region remains dynamic and is facing the challenges in tourism. At the same time, sustainable approaches ensure that the beauty of the Tyrolean landscape is preserved for future generations.
