Samoa Beach Fale: A million dollar view without the price tag
Samoa Beach Fale: A million dollar view without the price tag
Samoa Beach Fale may be rustic, but the view is unbeatable
Samoa doesn't have much of luxury accommodation. Apart from a variety of three-star resorts that are distributed over the two main islands, and a colorful collection of motels and lodges in Apia, there is only the Samoa Beach Fale from which you can choose.
On the first impression, they may seem a bit simple, but they scratch the surface and they will find beauty and calm that are equal to the most luxurious resorts.
For those who are not familiar with this charming offer, a Samoa Beach Fale is basically a small wallless wooden hut on stilts with wooden floors and a straw roof. Jalousia from palm leaves can be lowered to offer protection and privacy, but apart from that, they are quite open.
Oh, and I should probably mention that they are usually over the most untouched turquoise water and bright white sandy beaches that they will ever see!

inside they are pretty simple. There is usually a thin mattress, a pillow and a mosquito net. In the "more modern" establishments, you may have electric light - otherwise a solar lamp, a flashlight or even a candle is your only light source in the evening.
Basically a small step upwards from the camping: pretty rustic, but the surroundings are as breathtaking as the best luxury resorts. In fact, the flood in Regina’s Beach Fale on Savai’i came up directly around the bottom of our terrace. In the afternoon I sat there reading while the water flushed over my feet, just like in a luxurious Overwater-Bureau.
It's really a brilliant idea. Samoa is the hottest country in which we have ever stayed, and stuffy hotel rooms with tired ceiling fans that slowly let hot air circulate are the norm. It is still glowingly hot on the coast, but it usually blows a light breeze.

Fale offers the best of both worlds and offers a million dollar view and direct access to the beach while they stay cool at the same time.
The stay in a beach fale will not go beyond the bank either. Most facilities include two meals in the price - usually breakfast and dinner. We have found that thanks to the plenty of portions in meals, we rarely need much more than one snack in between to keep ourselves.
per night, including two meals, would usually be between $ 60 and $ 80 per night. 30 GBP for food and accommodation for two people are quite impressive, no matter how high your budget is.

It is nice to see that Samoa has remained true to his culture and has preserved its traditional architecture, in contrast to other Pacific islands that have allowed luxury resorts and club mediums to penetrate their landscapes to give in to foreign demand and dollars.
Samoa said no in harmony with his national psyche and preserved his heir.
Kia and I stayed in some surprisingly luxurious places on behalf. When we arrived at our first beach fale, I turned to her and found that some people pay hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars for such a view.
We smiled complacently and went swimming.
