In general, I don't spend a lot of money on clothes and non-photography related gadgets. I feel comfortable enough lounging around in jeans and a t-shirt. I also hate shopping with a vengeance. However, outdoor stores are a different kettle of fish. I can spend hours wandering the aisles, flipping through maps and checking out the latest lightweight gadgets.
Outdoor stores are quieter and the staff are mostly cut from the same cloth as me: active gear junkies who love to travel. Outdoor stores are also the only type of outlet where I throw caution to the wind when it comes to money; I will happily overspend. In fact, I bought all of my favorite things from an outdoor store.
