Our top instagram recordings from 2020

from playful parrot divers to huge peaks we share our best Instagram recordings from 2020

kia has already written about how in 2020, told the least. The year started promising how they will see below, but it didn't take long for all of our trips to be canceled or postponed.

Therefore, many of this year's Instagram photos were either reflective posts about past trips or recordings of hiking and camping excursions that were trapped between British lockdowns.

I was lucky enough to do a few European trips in summer. In July I met with one of my oldest and best friends for a hiking tour through the Berchtesgaden National Park in the Bavarian Alps in Germany. Then, in September, I took part in the highland velebit trek in Croatia.

Despite these trips, it is of no use to pretend that 2020 is anything but a lost year. But it is of no use to cry over spilled milk and missed mountains. We just have to book it as a loss and look into the future. As soon as it is certain, we will return to the trails.

In the meantime, I wish you a happy new year. We hope that you will continue to follow us here and on Instagram in 2021.

Aconcagua in South America, my third (probably fourth) summit of the Seven Summits, the highest mountain of all continents.

The Aconcagua was the highlight of a 10-year trip and the next step to realize my ultimate dream to climb every seven peaks.

In view of the fact that Asia's winter climbers were still in their lower camps when I reached the summit of Aconcagua, it is very likely that I was the highest person for these few moments that stood on Earth. Even if I will never climb the Everest, I will always have this moment on the "roof of America".

at the Everest monument in Chukpi Lhara near the village of Pheriche in Nepal flutter in the wind.

It was almost criminal that I hadn't seen Nepal yet. When I finally brought this to rest with a hike to the Everest base camp in 2019, it immediately became one of my favorite countries (strangely next to three others, starting with N: Namibia, New Zealand and Norway).

I swore to return as soon as possible to complete the Annapurna Circuit and the Langtang Treks. Press your fingers crossed for 2021.

2018 Kia and I moved from London to the charming small town of Richmond on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Since then we have missed our friends and family terribly, but when the pandemic moved in, we were happy and relieved to be where we were.

transferred to our area, we discovered some charming mini trails around Richmond. This view of our adopted home became one of our best Instagram recordings in 2020.

The standing Moai near Ranu Raraku, one of the most famous sites on the Easter Island (Rapa Nui) in Chile.

We spent five days on the breathtakingly beautiful island in 2015. After all these years, she is still one of the most extraordinary places we visited. This recording only captures a small foretaste of what makes it so special.

This short video shows the highlights of my highland bike hike in Croatia, a 104 km long, 5-day alpine hiking trail that crosses the Velebit Mountains, which separates the continental Croatia from the Adriatic coast.

It was my first trip to the Lockdown and part of Highlander Adventure, a collection of organized hikes through some of the classic hiking regions in Europe. If you have never participated in a multi -day hike, this is an ideal first expedition.

My heroic deeds in the Dales brought me a little local press, with reports in the Yorkshire Post, Darlington & Stockton Times, Living Magazine and the this is y Magazine.

The 41 mini mountains of the Yorkshire Dales were not up to the Aconcagua, but they were entertaining and offered some classic English views, including this via barbondale from a pile of stone near Eskholme Pike.
