Install a weather app on your phone. This not only predicts how warm or cold it will be in the coming hours, but also gives you information about wind strength, humidity or expected precipitation.
Packing list for the mountains
Bring thin and slightly thicker clothing with you so that you can wear them in an onion look and take them off if necessary when the weather gets warmer. Breathable clothing made of light fabrics is recommended as the first layer; a fleece jacket and a vest or waterproof jacket with a hood fit over the top. In the cool season, this should definitely be lined; thermal underwear also keeps you warm.
Weatherproof clothing should also be worn on your legs. Shorts and trekking pants with many practical pockets have already proven themselves many times over.
Stable, waterproof and breathable trekking shoes offer you optimal support in any weather and for steep climbs. A robust outsole with a strong profile is important. These offer stability and support even on mud and wet paths. The upper of the shoes should be waterproof for rainy days.
A waterproof and windproof rain cover over the backpack protects your luggage from getting wet. Alternatively, choose a weatherproof backpack model if you want to keep your equipment reliably dry on longer tours.
What else should be in your luggage?
Have you ever gotten wet while hiking? With a change of clothes you are also prepared for this situation. Spare clothes and a pair of socks allow you to change quickly and prevent you from getting cold.
Tip: Rain jackets with a breathable membrane are windproof and waterproof, but you won't sweat in them.
