Tui expects a boom in long-distance travel thanks to the appreciation of the euro!

Tui AG has recently noticed a change in travel demand, particularly with a decline in travel to the US. This is accompanied by an increase in bookings for long-distance travel in autumn, which is supported by the appreciation of the euro. Tui boss Sebastian Ebel notes that the company does not have much business with the USA, but that it has noticed shifts in the booking behavior of customers, who are increasingly preferring destinations such as Canada and the Caribbean.

The appreciation of the euro is making travel to popular destinations such as the Gulf States and Southeast Asia more affordable. “Travellers will not immediately feel the devaluation of the dollar in the summer, as many currencies have been purchased in advance for their trips,” explains Ebel.

Promote sales via the Tui app

As part of its strategy, Tui plans to intensify the sale of trips via the company's own app. However, Ebel emphasizes that discounts, which are common in food retail, will not be part of this strategy. He explains that legal requirements have stipulated that package holidays must cost the same across all sales channels.

The Tui app not only offers travelers a convenient booking option, but also helpful functions. This includes targeted warnings in the event of large fires, such as the devastating forest fires in Rhodes in 2023. The users' travel preferences are also saved in order to optimize future vacation plans.

Overall, it shows that changes in the currency market have a significant impact on travel behavior and Tui is responding to this to meet the changing needs of holidaymakers. For more information you can view the full report Found scene and Ulm.tv see.
