Vietnam and Thailand: New horizons for cultural and tourism cooperation!
On May 15, 2025, there was an important meeting between Vietnam and Thailand, which is intended to promote exchange in the areas of culture, education, sport and tourism. Common chair of the meeting were Ms. Tran Hai van from Vietnam and Mr. Sitsun Ngawsuwan from Thailand. Representatives of various ministries and authorities from both countries took part in the meeting, including the Vietnamese National Tourism Authority and the Thai Foreign Ministry. The aim of the meeting was to appreciate the existing cooperation and explore new cooperation directions.
Ms. Tran Hai van presented the first designs of a report that included various suggestions for future cooperation. Vietnam focused on strengthening the cooperation in the field of cultural heritage in order to promote the exchange of museums and cultural goods. The sustainable development of tourism is also a central concern. This includes digital transformation in tourism management, which should make it possible to make the sector more effective and environmentally conscious. Thailand benevolently took note of these suggestions and emphasized his wish to improve the cross -border tourism connectivity. This includes the promotion of self-drivers tourism, the expansion of direct flights and the establishment of city twinning.
cultural exchange and tourism
In the area of sport, the cooperation to promote young talents and the support of international sporting events was brought to the fore. For example, the exchange programs for sports delegations and trainers should be intensified. In addition to sport, the training in the education sector was also discussed, in which Vietnam would like to promote the establishment of Vietnamese lesson centers in Thailand to preserve the identity of the Vietnamese community in Thailand.
With regard to the work area, Vietnam plans to resume extensive cooperation documents in order to further expand cooperation between the two countries. The interpersonal exchange plays a central role here. It should be relieved and supported by symbolic works of friendship in Thailand. Thailand expressed great interest, especially in the area of tourism.
digital transformation in Vietnam
In addition to cooperation in the cultural and tourist area, Vietnam strives for a comprehensive digital transformation. This is part of the digital transformation agenda (DTA), which aims to use digital technologies for economic growth and social development. Vietnam pursues ambitious goals, including the achievement of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and the conversion into a highly developed country until 2045. National digital transformation policy focuses on the areas of digital government, digital economy and digital society, with the aim of offering all administrative actions online by 2025The government has already made progress, but there are challenges such as data protection concerns and inequality in the digital transition in the room. The digital society is to be promoted by the expansion of infrastructures and the training of citizens with digital skills. Another goal is to supply 80 percent of the population with electronic payment services by 2035.
Overall, it shows that both the cultural exchange between Vietnam and Thailand and the digital transformation of Vietnam offer promising perspectives, but also bring about challenges that have to be mastered together. The exchange of ideas and the mutual support in these areas could form the basis for successful cooperation and sustainable growth.
