Flight attendant Hong Ngoc impresses with perfect service and charm

A recently released video of a flight attendant has taken the internet by storm, garnering over 7 million views. In the clip, recorded during a flight from Hanoi to Da Nang, flight attendant Hong Ngoc informs passengers about important safety regulations. Particularly highlighted are their striking blue ao dai, as well as their friendliness and welcoming demeanor, which are consistently praised by travelers. Hong Ngoc, who has worked for Vietnam Airlines for six years, has made a name for herself in the aviation industry.

Hong Ngoc's journey to becoming a flight attendant began in high school when she fulfilled a dream inspired by the flight attendants she saw. After graduating from high school, she decided to study accounting, but quickly realized that her true passion lay in aviation. To qualify for the position, she learned English and earned a TOEFL certificate before applying to Vietnam Airlines.

The selection process and training

The selection process for flight attendants is demanding and involves four rounds with strict requirements. This includes a minimum height of 1.65 m and a BMI of no more than 19. Medical examinations and vestibular tests are also part of the selection process. After successful completion, the prospective flight attendant undergoes comprehensive training lasting four months, which covers topics such as flight safety, first aid and passenger service.

Hong Ngoc still remembers her first flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, which was filled with nervousness. Over the years, through her experiences and contact with different passengers, she has gained self-confidence and developed into a more open, extroverted personality. A standout moment in her career was an incident in 2023 when she and her team provided first aid to a passenger who was showing signs of a stroke.

The profession of a flight attendant

Flight attendants are not only the face of the airline, but also have a variety of tasks, ranging from preparing the cabin to greeting travelers and giving safety instructions. Their friendly demeanor and flexibility are essential characteristics in order to provide the passengers with the best possible care. The working hours are irregular and require a high level of resilience as you often have to work on weekends and public holidays. On average, flight attendants work 2,000 hours per year.

The requirements for flight attendants are high: in addition to a completed school education, good English skills, the ability to swim and good health are also necessary. The minimum age is 18 years and the minimum height varies between 1.55 and 1.65 meters depending on the airline. Flight attendants wear their airline's uniform and always strive to maintain a neat appearance. Despite all the challenges and the diverse demands, Hong Ngoc remains true to her passion and, despite suggestions to work as an artist or photo model, sees herself continuing in her role as a flight attendant.
