Hanoi's Best: Michelin Awards for Popular Restaurants 2025!

On June 10, 2025, the Michelin Guide published the list of excellent restaurants in Vietnam recommended for 2025. Among the cities featured in this list are Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. This listing brings both brilliance and challenges to the region's gastronomy.

Several notable restaurants were listed in the Michelin Selected category:

  • Chicken Sticky Rice Restaurant Number One (Nguyen Trung Truc Straße, Bezirk 1)
  • Krabbennudelrestaurant Thuy 94 (Dinh Tien Hoang Straße, Bezirk 1)
  • Restaurant Bep Nguoi Hoi An (Tran Quoc Toan Straße, Bezirk 3)

The respective restaurant owners commented positively on the awards. Mr. Nguyen Hieu Trung, operator of Chicken Sticky Rice Restaurant Number One, described the renewed Michelin award as a great incentive to win the trust of guests from home and abroad. His restaurant is known for the sticky rice dish with chicken. Mr. Trung also emphasized that the prices of the glutinous rice dishes in the restaurant remain unchanged, between VND30,000 and VND40,000.

Reactions from restaurant owners

Ms. Truc Mai, one of the owners of Thuy 94, was also pleased with the recognition in the Michelin list. She sees this as a confirmation of the trust her guests place in the restaurant. On the other hand, it announced a price increase of VND 10,000 per dish, which will come into effect from January 2025. This increase is considered appropriate.

Mr. Nguyen Han Thien, owner of Bep Nguoi Hoi An, expressed gratitude for the repeated recommendation. He sees the award as part of a five-year growth journey and emphasizes that price increases are only being considered due to inflation and rising costs, and not because of the Michelin recommendation. All three restaurant owners also reiterated that they maintain their original business philosophy and continue to focus on the quality of their food.

Michelin star restaurants in Vietnam

In addition to the selected restaurants, there are a total of four Michelin star restaurants in Vietnam. Three of these excellent restaurants are in Hanoi, while the fourth, Anăn Saigon, is in Ho Chi Minh City. Gia Restaurant, led by Chef Sam Tran, has a Michelin star and offers a seasonal menu that honors Vietnam's culinary tradition.

The Michelin awards undoubtedly have a positive impact on the gastronomy in Vietnam, but they also drive the discussion about prices and quality. The balancing act between maintaining high standards and maintaining accessibility for customers remains a key challenge for restaurant owners.
