Singapore and Vietnam: Tourism partnership on track for records!

The relationship between Vietnam and Singapore in the tourism sector is characterized by a long history and a promising future. Terrence Voon, managing director for Southeast Asia at the Singapore Tourism Board, highlights that Singapore attracts Vietnamese tourists with a wide range of shopping options, culinary delights and cultural heritage. According to reports, Singapore welcomed a total of 16.5 million visitors in 2024, including 393,184 tourists from Vietnam.

Vietnam has emerged as one of the top 15 tourist markets worldwide, underscoring the importance of Vietnamese tourists entering Singapore. To maintain this momentum, the Singapore Tourism Board is planning a comprehensive communications campaign that will be used across various channels such as websites, blogs, email marketing and social media to best reach target audiences.

Versatile offers and the premium market

A variety of high-quality tourism products are offered to promote tourism between the two countries. These include combination offers for hotels and airline tickets, cruises and tickets to various entertainment venues. Nguyen Trung Cong, CEO of iVIVU, shared that over 500,000 regular visitors from the high-end premium segment travel to Singapore. The goal is to attract at least 13,000 Vietnamese tourists through offers specifically designed for premium customers.

The cooperation between the two countries aims to increase the presence of Singaporean tourism in the Vietnamese market and promote sustainable development. Tran Thi Bao Thu, marketing and communications director of Vietluxtour Company, also noted that Vietnamese tourists are increasingly preferring free and easy tours. This signals a change in Vietnamese people's travel patterns and preferences.

Travel facilitation and connectivity

A significant advantage for Vietnamese tourists is the fact that they do not need a 30-day visa to enter Singapore. This makes planning your trips much easier. There are also 137 weekly flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang and Phu Quoc with four different airlines.

Changi Airport in Singapore is considered one of the best-connected airports in Asia, serving more than 78 airlines and connecting around 400 cities in 140 countries. Such infrastructural advantages not only support the growing number of Vietnamese visitors but also cement Singapore's role as an attractive travel destination.

Overall, it can be seen that the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore and their innovative approaches in the tourism sector are intended to promote both the tourist attraction and the development of both countries. While the number of international trips continues to grow, Singapore remains a preferred destination for Vietnamese tourists.
