Highlander Velebit equipment list: What is in my backpack?
Our equipment list for the Velebit highlands contains everything you need for a five-day hike through the highest mountains of Croatia
I recently completed the Highlander Velebit, a 104 km long 5-day hike through the Northern Velebit and Paklenica National Parks in Croatia. The Velebit is a hiking organized by Highlander Adventure Collection and therefore requires a slightly different mix of equipment than what I would pack for an independent hike.
To help future trekkers find the right balance, I have put together my usual equipment list after the trip, in which I pack everything I packed up. Where possible, I added links to the equipment that I took with me as a reference.

Since the hike only takes five days with four camping nights, I encourage Trekker to go as easily as possible. I kept my backpack below 15 kg, which contained two liters of water and my entire photo equipment.
If you hike in pairs or in a group, you can travel more easily by sharing the equipment. Since the meals are distributed on the go, they also do not have to take provisions with them throughout the path.

clothing
I hiked in September when the climate in Croatia was still hot and dry. I used neither my waterproof equipment nor my warm clothes. Only in the late evening I put on my light down jacket and it was usually open.
However, the mountain weather at the best times is moody, so I would never advise against packing these objects. A typical example is the first Highlander Velebit 2017 when it was raining during the entire five days of the hike.
